Title: PREDATORY MERCHANTS: Intentional Deception, Shell Corporations, and Fabricated Deliverables
Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Do not trust Clifford Ghostwriting. If you are an author or academic looking for historical integrity, stay far away. They operate a highly deceptive operation designed to extract capital while delivering fraudulent assets and evading credit card merchant detection. I contracted Clifford Ghostwriting for a premium, five-figure biographical book package (including writing, publishing, audio production, and marketing). My experience with them has been a disaster characterized by a complete breach of professional trust and predatory billing practices: Fabricated Assets / Fraudulent Research: For a non-fiction historical biography, their team attempted to present artificially fabricated, fake historical images as "authentic research." When caught violating the foundational integrity of the project, they hid behind a loop of "unlimited revisions" rather than addressing the material breach of contract. Deceptive Merchant Shell Network: This is the most alarming red flag. While invoicing under the name "Clifford Ghostwriting," they deliberately routed all $16,499.00 of my credit card payments through completely unmentioned, out-of-state dummy corporations and front names: Spark Savvy Solutions (out of Texas) and Whispering Labs (out of California) to bypass transaction alerts and mask their identity on my bank statements. Invoicing for Unrendered Services: When I terminated the contract, their Compliance Department (managed by a representative named Joshua) sent an arbitrary "itemization" trying to withhold over $11,000 of my funds. They charged $4,000 for "integration services" and $1,500 for audiobook "pre-production" on a project that does not even have a finalized manuscript or layout. They refuse to provide itemized hourly time logs or basic billing transparency to justify these imaginary costs. Stalling Tactics & Missed Deadlines: They repeatedly miss their own self-imposed deadlines to deliver financial settlements, instead ignoring communication until threatened with escalation, at which point they beg for "45-day extensions" to trap your capital. I have officially severed ties and initiated formal merchant fraud and "Services Not Rendered" disputes with Chase and Wells Fargo to claw back the full contract value. I am also filing formal fraud complaints with the California Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and regulatory agencies. They are a scam operation running a merchant account shell game. Save your money, your sanity, and your book.
