First, it started off with invoice funding which worked fine. They moved from that to cash funding in 2025 (not dependent on paid invoices anymore), and now they are still doing cash into the business account but, only for businesses making over 100k per month. The company has been okay to deal with but, they clearly do not care about small businesses. I'm not sure what's going on with them but, they are definitely not like they once were. To get a cash advance back when they were offering it to businesses making under 100k per month was like pulling teeth even when their app has direct access to your website to see sales, etc.

I am extremely disappointed in Clear Co. Everything started out great and our company spent ample time and resources getting the process set-up to work with our existing processes, we saw it as a long term agreement. I took several draws with clearco when needed and was told everything was going great and not to worry if I needed a draw anytime then it would not be an issue as we were running a model account with zero problems. Then July comes and I request a draw to get some inventory moving as I had planned. My Account rep takes days to respond and when he does, the clearco story starts changing the story about draws, now all of a sudden we needed to wait a few weeks to review the potential 4th quarter performance. So I wait a few weeks and continue to pay our % revenue toward our balance as agreed. We come into august and I request the draw, my rep takes days to respond and now states that due to the macroeconomic climate it has impacted the next capital advance for my account and he copies his manager into the email, The manager states he is going to call me, NO CALL. I am still waiting!! The worst part is they had made certain this was not going to happen to our account as long as there was no major change to our business. Our business remains strong. ! Bottom Line Clearco is having difficulty with its business model and I do not recommend its services. It has been a waste of my time and I regret ever taking their call or email from their sales team. There are many products out there, do not believe the hype that they are founders for founders. They are all talk upfront they want to get you hooked and raise your percentage as you become a number to them. Very disappointing.

My overall experience with Clearbanc has been underwhelming. The primary reason is Clearbanc presents itself not only as a source of funding but as a resource to help entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. That simply isn't the reality. The 3rd party resources offered aren't responsive even when being 'curated' with direct introductions from Clearbanc, and when finally tracked down they don't offer price points reflective of start-up reality. Clearbanc now faces competition (eg. Shopify) and has altered some components of their offering. In short, if you need money, it can be a helpful service, but do not believe the hype/marketing they can and will provide additional information, resources, data or access to expertise to help you grow your company.

We are probably unlucky and have to let the benefit of the doubts to them, but we really got a horrible experience. Our account manager never respected a deadline and every time he has to reach back, we were waiting sometimes more than a week. Also, their clientele service is at best unresponsive and never can help... We got money and paid it back with them and I can say it is a never go again, if there is one thing a small business owner need is complicated things... I am sure they are scaling fast and maybe this is why but the experience is still far than good.

We've worked with a number of financing institutions as a young business (Shopify Capital, Loanbuilder, Kabbage, OnDeck, etc.), and Clearbanc is by far our least favorite. The nature of their product simply makes it difficult to use. You are never given a deposit of funds, but moreso have to spend on a credit card against an agreed upon balance. The frustrating part is that while you aren't "given" the funds in a lump sum, you still pay down the balance regardless - this means that you could be paying Clearbanc back for funds that aren't in your possession and that you may not even have utilized. The whole process of working with them and understanding the way they operate was confusing and frustrating. If you have access to pretty much any (reasonable) other financing opportunity, I'd utilize that first.

I had a real pleasure dealing with Clearbanc. I was eligible for a top up, it was my 3rd or 4th one, and my balance was at 15k due out of 40k loaned to me in less then 6 month, with steady payments, and at the last moment you have refused to do my top up based on the nature of my business. I was counting on that top up and refused an alternate loan from Thinking Capital. Not a good business practice to handle your loyal and valuable customers and cutting them of on a biased basis.

** UPDATE: it got worse ** I tried Clearbanc again when other lenders were not available. They did what they said, with the usual limitations (see below). Then when I got a better offer, I paid off the Clearbanc balance but they still kept withdrawing thousands of dollars from my account and I had to contact them repeatedly to explain that they had already been paid. The first few times they just said nothing had changed and they were going to keep making withdrawals. Add another downside... there are still (much) better options. ** Original review ** Clearbanc does what it says for the most part. It can be a good option for paying marketing costs when you have profitable campaigns. However it has some downsides. Even a regular credit card can be a cheaper alternative to Clearbanc. I switched to Thinking Capital after talking with OnDeck and LendingLoop as well. The first major caution is that Clearbanc does not give you a loan or a direct deposit, even though most of their ads and their website imply this. Instead you get a credit card number you can use to make payments up to the limit you are approved for. This means you will most likely start repaying this before you have even used it. Repayments start on the first day but you probably won't have any charges going through that same day. Using this for Google and Facebook ads is simple enough. It's like any other credit card. For other vendors it may be harder, and for anything outside of their short list of "approved" vendors you pay double the cost (through a complicated rebate system). Another thing to watch out for is the repayments based on your daily sales. If your sales are increasing quickly this means you will repay the total much faster. On the other hand if your sales are going down, or their algorithm predicts that will happen soon (it was very wrong in my case), they will cut off further funding. The one benefit is that if your sales go down, you don't have to repay it as fast. But if you're investing more in marketing and your sales are going down you're probably doing something wrong and you should fix that before considering Clearbanc or any other alternatives. If you're going to have the advance repaid in just 2 months you are much better off putting the expenses on a credit card. Even if you wait a couple of months before paying off the balance, you'll only pay 2 - 4% compared to 6 - 12% with Clearbanc. Clearbanc looks more reasonable if you take 4 - 6 months to repay the advance. But if your sales increase a lot that is unlikely. And it means you need to wait a while before you can get another advance from them. These things were not clear up front. When I contacted them they made me sit through a weird one hour presentation on the phone and then rushed me through the actual details (which is the first time I learned that it was not quite what the website made it sound like), offers, and contract. If I had understood this properly and chosen something that's repaid with 5 - 10% of daily sales it might have worked out a little better. If you go with Clearbanc I would start with the smallest offer available, and then talk to them about increasing that once it's used up. Stick to the lower repayment rates, never 15 - 20%. That will limit what you can get but it works out better. In the end I switched to Thinking Capital. They provide a direct deposit for the full amount so you have the cash on hand on the first day. The daily repayments are fixed so I know the cost is worth it based on the length of time (it actually is cheaper than carrying a credit card balance for the same amount of time). They have a set schedule to add more to the loan before it's fully paid off. They approved a far higher amount than anyone else, so I only took a part of that. Thinking Capital was the most willing to work with my business, although OnDeck and Clearbanc had decent offers as well. They were all better than LendingLoop, the BDC, and traditional banks. You can use the first 3 to grow a business when you have profitable marketing campaigns, and once it's more stabilized look at the others for long-term options.
