Your public response is noted….
Your public response is noted, but it does not address the substance of my complaint. I requested a copy of my background check report on October 3. Despite that request and my subsequent attempts to obtain a response through Cleanster’s support channel, I have received neither the report nor the information necessary to identify and contact the screening company responsible for preparing it. Your response publicly directs me to contact the same support email address I had already used without obtaining a substantive response. Repeating that instruction is not a resolution, nor does it demonstrate that my request has been meaningfully addressed. Cleanster deducted $29.99 directly from my earnings for this background check. I consider it entirely reasonable to expect transparency regarding a screening service for which I was charged, including access to the resulting report and the identity and contact information of the company that prepared it. Furthermore, California Civil Code § 1786.16 establishes specific disclosure and report-copy obligations in connection with covered investigative consumer reports for employment purposes. Where the statutory requirements for requesting a copy have been satisfied, the recipient must provide the report within the prescribed timeframe. I expect Cleanster to clarify how it is complying with its applicable obligations in this matter. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am retaining documentation of the fee deducted from my earnings, my requests for the report, and Cleanster’s responses, or lack thereof. I am prepared to pursue the appropriate avenues available to me to obtain the requested information and seek an appropriate remedy. To be clear, my requested resolution remains straightforward: Provide me with a complete copy of my background check report, including the screening provider’s identifying and contact information; or Provide the screening provider’s name and contact information, together with the information reasonably necessary for me to obtain the report directly; or If Cleanster cannot provide the report or the information necessary to obtain it, refund the $29.99 deducted from my earnings. I welcome a substantive response that resolves this matter. However, a public statement expressing concern, followed by another referral to an unresponsive support channel, is not an adequate substitute for action. I expect this matter to be addressed on its merits, with a clear response and a concrete resolution.
