There is a big learning curve and our implementation was an arduous process. The software itself seems to amazing but it's integration with QBO leaves a little to be desired. Which more fields mapped, it turns off payments in invoices as we are still using QBO for the payment platform, and there were some bugs in installation. However the inventory mgmt aspect and cogs is far superior that what just qbo alone can do and worth it.

It's been an interesting journey leading to resentment
It's been an interesting journey. Initially I was super happy with the support and help provided. The software had it's limitations, but did most of what we needed. I've used the software for a few years now and can feel I can comment on its performance.
The company has gone through lots of changes over the years. Initially it went down quickly. Service went from great to non-existent. I was ready to opt out and find a better platform as I couldn't work with it anymore. However, over the last 12-18 months, a lot of new people joined the company and some key people were replaced at the highest levels. This resulted in a renewed focus on customer service and support. Which was desperately needed, so glad to see that's working again.
On the upside:
The program itself is very comprehensive. It suffers from the occasional bug which becomes more apparent when one uses the API interface. But other than that, it's solid.
The Xero integration is really good, there are a few little tricks that are good to know.
The API I mentioned earlier is great, it allows us to do lots of data manipulation outside of Cin7. We rely on that a lot. The B2B portal is ok. I find the categories a little cumbersome. However, we're about to replace it with our own as we need more custom functionality.
They have experts in each area, so when you want to go down a specific rabbit hole, you can do so with someone experienced in that field.
On the downside
Stocktake/stock count is cumbersome. That may have to do with the way we run our business but it's hard to get a clear understanding how much stock we actually have.
There's no low stock level flag. If certain stock is running low you won't get notified. That's a real issue for us.
We're a manufacturer and can have a long lead time. Time between the purchase order and dispatch can be 3-4 months. In the meantime all items that are being manufactured are counted as stock on hand. Hence our balance sheet and P+L is out of whack.
Although they have great in-depth specialists, it's hard to get someone that can look across the different areas and advise based on that view.
Licensing is a little bit weird. You can add users and won't get charged unless they log in. And that is assessed month by month. We'd like to have 'free' user access for our programmers for instance. Or our bookkeeper. To pay a full license for these non-users is a bit strange.
Verdict:
It's a powerful tool that can do most of what we need. What it can't do, we can program ourselves using the API. Stock management and forecasting can be a lot better, but I've got high hopes... :)

Hi Joeri,
I sincerely apologize to hear that your experience hasn't met your needs or expectations. We have just completed a major project to improve our support including bringing in several very talented and seasoned support team leaders. We’ve also invested in better support technology including support chat with human product experts and a new support portal. These will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks. As you experience these enhancements, please let me know how it’s going so we can continue to improve. We have made changes to ensure our prices are transparent (now clearly shown on cin7.com) and predictable with no surprises.
We’ve removed the bad habits of the senior leaders that exited the business over the last 18 months. So, here too, you will continue to see very large improvements. We’re all committed to improving your experiences with service, support and product. I understand Noel Paul (Support Team Leader) has got in touch with you to try resolve these issues. Thank you again for the feedback and choosing Cin7. We appreciate your business and are delivering improvements at a pace.

Steep learning curve, made easy with personalized support
Dealing with cin7, especially when you are used to Sage, can be daunting. There is a lot to learn, and the different procedures can be confusing at first. That said, cin7 has a lot of training videos; a sort of online academy. But honestly, those things, however worthy, do not hold a candle to the personalized training we were offered via video.
Sage is not perfect, but after 25+ years of working with it and similar software, we have become used to it. So the jump to cin7 was never going to be straight forward - especially given sage also does accounting and cin7 does not. (We now use Xero for that). However, it is REALLY worth the effort. We were treated to on line training courses and support from Atul at Cin7, and that made what could have been a difficult experience a real pleasure. Atul is patient, thorough and above all takes the time to explain things in a straightforward way.
Now, some 3 months on from adoption, and having used cin7 for everything, everyday, I feel I can offer a decent review.
Cin7 itself - brilliant, but not perfect. Every now and again we find a rough edge, something that doesn't quote work the way it should. However I don't wish you to think that I am being negative - I REALLY like Cin7, once you get your head around it, it is really powerful; and I feel it wouldn't be an overstatement to say it has transformed the way we work. The way it deals with reports, the way it integrates with WooCommerce on our website, the way it links into eBay - these are all superb functions. However, it was Atul and his training which means we have no regrets whatsoever in making the jump. His training methods and availability when needed made sure we were fully versed in the correct way to do things and gave us the confidence of just getting on with it.
Now, we are fully up to speed, we can add in the extras we felt were missing without needing assistance, we have been able to face the challenges of Brexit preparation without issue.
So why 4 out of 5? Well, Cin7 itself still is not quite the polishing end product. Little things like not being able to use customer tax status as the priority over product tax stats (that's a problem when you are exporting), or the fact that every few days, all of the weights used on the system change from 1kg to 0.999999kg. I have no idea why, I reset them, they work, and then in a few weeks time.... (you get the idea).
But this doesn't change my overall view - it's a jump I am delighted we made. And if you get a good trainer (like we did), it will be easy.

Overall
Paying for premium support found well worth the extra payment for our business. Happy to help however it seems they are limited to their own system and are unable to adjust it. Overall very good system.

We went live with the system 7 weeks…
We went live with the system 7 weeks ago and so far so good. From working in the dark ages solely on Excel spreadsheets for our stock management Cin7 feels like we have finally come into the light! The set up process and training took quite a bit longer than expected (months!) but was worth the effort. Atul our implementation guide was great. Since going live we have been passed to the general support team which is the reason for the drop in one star, the support has gone from great with Atul to extremely slow / non-existent. Reading through some of the below reviews it does seem like the support after going live is not good enough. We have been trying to go live with the B2B site and are not getting anywhere due to a lack of response from the support team.
System is great so far, initial set up with Atul was great, they just need to do something about the ongoing support.....

Hello Kate,
Thanks so much for your review. We’re pleased to know that Cin7 is already bringing value to your business. Even more than that, though, we take to heart your concerns about your post-live experience. With our recent change in leadership, Cin7 is focused on improving our customer service, and your feedback helps us identify where we have room for improvement. In the meantime, we'd love to speak with you one-to-one about your issues regarding B2B. We will have one of our post-live consultants reach out to you directly to help out.
Sincerely,
The Cin7 Team

GOOD GOOD BAD GOOD GOOD
We have been using CIN7 for 9 months now. We trialed pretty much all the XERO compatible inventory platforms leading up to our final decision. We do a lot of serial number tracked capital equipment sales and CIN7 does this well.
This is a powerful tool with loads of features. It can be daunting at first but once the user interfaces became natural there is so much informational readily available at your fingertips with just a few clicks.
My biggest gripe is what was nothing short of woeful on boarding experience. The training was rubbish to put it bluntly. Our training was by an under skilled trainer and what I thought was just a quick intro turned out to be the full training package. They completely messed up our XERO integration and fell well short of the promised help here. Simple truth is, if we weren’t used to doing all our own in house support we would have been screwed. If you are not tech savvy with a good in house IT knowledge don’t use this program. Most times we have to hand support on a platter the issue before they can fix it. We did get there in the end though.
Now back to positives.
- Customer database is noted as a CRM and it offers a lot of options above a standard database.
- Smart buyer is awesome.
- Updating and loading of data is sooooo simple. Load by CSV or export CSV, change info and copy past straight back in. So easy.
- Quoting. One of few systems with images available on quotes.
- images also carry across to the bolt on B2B module
- B2B. We haven’t gone live yet and it’s not perfect but so good that it’s all integrated and info feeds straight across. Customer log in panel is great and they can view all invoices processed through the B2B and any manually entered.
- mail servers built in are great
- payment gateway. Just implementing now, but it seem like it will be very good, although a little pricey.
- reports are good, although no-one ever trained us on how to use them so still working it out. There’s a bit of negative again. Woeful training. Did I mention the training and onboarding was terrible.
- Integrations. There are so many but I will need to give up my first born child to afford all the ones I want. Did I mention it can be very expensive if you want the trimmings. Negotiate the hell out out the deal at the start. Work out what you want up front, cause there is not fixed pricing guide and you have to work for a deal. There’s that negative again.
All up. Look this is a super powerful program. If you are a small to mid size company and you wanting feature that only the big boys years ago would have, then this is a great option. We are in a modern era where smaller players can utilise programs like this and XERO for a competitive edge without having to spend tens of thousand of dollars.
It’s not a one size fits all though, so make sure the strengths of this program work for your business. Short list and do trials of your final two or three systems and understand them. Have trust in the fact that many of the features that don’t make sense now one day will. You will go, ahh that’s why they do it that way. It is a well built program, but learning it can be a challenge. Big learning curve but well worth it for us.
Hope this helps someone. I spent so much time on these dam reviews when we were looking. All the systems have pros and cons and none of them are perfect including this one, but it is very good.

Great inventory software with flexible setup
Great inventory software with flexible options.
The flip side of the flexibility is that you really do need to spend time designing the best implementation and setup for your operations, but once you do, its great software.
And the company are rolling out integrations with key online players, so it feels like the company is keeping pace with customer needs.
