Overpriced SCAM
This website is a scam. Classes cost 3-4x as much as other online equivalents, and they do not disclose that once you complete the course they will hold you hostage for a separate "online certificate processing fee"! What if you want that auto-generated certificate sent to you in a timely manner? That'll be another $15! Moreover, the baptism course will spend more time trying to shame you into never voting a certain way than it will actually discussing the meaning and importance of baptism. As a life-long Catholic who genuinely believes in the dignity of all human life, this overpriced, divisive course made me signficantly less confident in my decision to baptize my son. If you want a course that is going to reflect the welcoming and inclusive nature the Church is meant to embody, look ANYWHERE but here.
Response from catechismclass.comAug 31, 2026
We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with the course, but we do want to correct several assertions in this review. CatechismClass.com is not a “scam,” and our pricing is disclosed before purchase. Our Baptism Preparation Program is currently $49.95 and provides 24/7, self-paced access to a 16-module course written specifically for parents and godparents. While other providers may charge different amounts or offer different types of programs, our price reflects the curriculum, testing, ongoing access, support, and administrative services we provide. Likewise, certificate processing is not a hidden charge imposed after someone completes a course. Certificate processing is a separate administrative service, and our certificate requirements and applicable fees are disclosed on our website. Certificates are also not simply “auto-generated.” Completion is reviewed and the certificate is prepared in the student's name. Standard processing is normally completed within 2–3 business days. The additional $15 referenced in this review is an optional expedited-processing charge for students who need their certificate more quickly; it is not required for ordinary processing. We also strongly disagree with the characterization of the Baptism course itself. The program consists of 16 modules devoted to subjects including the necessity and effects of Baptism, original sin, Baptism in the Early Church, the Rite of Baptism, infant Baptism, the minister of Baptism, godparents, and other practical and doctrinal considerations surrounding the sacrament. To suggest that the course spends more time discussing voting than Baptism simply does not accurately describe its content. CatechismClass.com does unapologetically teach the Catholic Faith, including Catholic moral principles when they are relevant. Our purpose is not to promote a political party or candidate, but neither will we dilute, omit, or soften Catholic teaching simply because some of its moral conclusions may be unpopular or uncomfortable. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the experience left you less confident about having your son baptized. Baptism is an extraordinary gift of grace and the beginning of the Christian life, and we would strongly encourage you not to allow disagreement with one portion of a preparation course to discourage you from such an important sacrament. That said, we stand by both the accuracy of how our program is described and the substance of what we teach. Our course content, pricing, and certificate process are stated on our website, and we stand firmly behind our commitment to teach the Catholic Faith in its integrity rather than reshape it to conform to changing cultural or political expectations.
