The billing & reimbursement have been a nightmare. I availed of back-up care for 1 day for the first time at a daycare, and Care.com will not reimburse unless you are able to complete their form which requires the daycare's director to sign. What daycare would bother with such requests?!! I called and emailed the daycare asking to sign Care.com's form about 1 week ago, and not surprisingly, I never heard back. So I may end up not being able to use my supposedly 5 allotted days for back-up daycare.

I don't understand why background checks aren't required for the parents
I have been on the site since 2021 and do not understand why background checks aren't required on the parents and profile picts aren't required (& verified from a govt. issued ID). I've had some sketchy men DM me to take care of their children. When I ask to speak w/their wives before the service, they say unbelievable things like, "she's too busy to speak, she's in the hospital, she's out of town." I've had 2 men ask to meet me at a hotel room to care for their children and 1 ask me to meet him and his friends at a vrbo. I've blocked several men and unfortunately this was after speaking to them on my phone to which I had to block them. I had 1 guy that when I said my husband would drop me off and that I wanted his address in advance to drive by the neighborhood, he suddenly canceled the sitter services. Watch out for the men who post "urgently hiring for today, I'm in the hospital and when you get to my home they'll be several friends there". Do your due diligence w interviewing the parents beforehand and then checking their socials to ensure they are who they say (I ask everyone for theirs now). And, tell them your spouse will be driving you there and will also drive by their home before the service to ensure you feel comfortable where they live. I also do a facetime w the mom and do not take any requests to sit for men now.
Additionally, last yr I paid for the enhanced background & MVR check to boost my profile w those badges. Well, the badges never showed although both reports were returned from their 3rd party vendor w No Findings. Care has no support contact unless you pay for a higher membership tier than I had. So i contacted the background co. & asked if they sent the report to Care, to which they had and showed me how their systems communicate. I had to go thru my credit card company to dispute the charge since in fact the badge was never shown on my profile. Recently, I received a check of about $45.00 from a class-action lawsuit brought against Care and I can see why. When a company is entrusted to ensure safe care for children and the elderly, but run such loose procedures, I can absolutely understand why they get sued. Even with all this hardship, now that I know how to quickly screen the parents asking me to sit for their kids, I remain on the platform and pick and choose who I'll sit for which leads to multiple bookings and referrals. So if you put in the effort to be safe and do your due diligence you will find some reputable families and wonderful kiddos.

I was looking for pet sitting jobs in…Memphis Tn
I was looking for pet sitting jobs in my area, and when I went to apply for them, most were available to apply on through apps you had to download and sign up for. I found care.com and saw that it was a legit company, and proceeded to create a profile which it asked of all its customers, and post credentials so you can be matched with people looking for people to care for their pets. I got a few requests, but when I would click accept job, there were no responses back. I ended up receiving an email about one of the jobs I applied for after two or three weeks after I applied. I was excited that I finally got a response, but to my dismay, it was a scam. The job wasn't real. The emails were way off, The first one seemed ok, but some of the requests seemed odd. I responded back, but when I didn't hear for a few days and no questions of mine were answered, I moved on. I received another email yesterday from them after a week of waiting. It was even more odd. I can attach them to an email to the company if they want to see them. I decided to report them. If the company responds to this, I will give them more information on the person. I ended up canceling my account, as I do not want any more experiences like this. It will expire soon, as this is a paid subscription and my time hasn't run out.

Mileage of Location
The locations do not match the miles. I keep getting places like Orlando or West Palm Beach saying they're 4 miles away. Crazy. I even put down that I won't go farther than 25 miles. Those places are way more than 4 miles. Don't know how they figure the miles. So very wrong.

Nobody will trust in care.com anymore..!!
I just opened account at care.com this evening (6/6/25) and their system charged me for a quarterly membership fee instantly. When I was chatting with one of their team (CS). He told me that my account was closed! What.. !? How could they took my money easily and then closed my account without giving me a confirmation first. I opened my account on care.com since I thought they have good caregivers there, but after having this matter that make me doubtful. I should give just one star, but one of their team (CS) helped and confirmed me that my case will be reviewed (got fixed) next week, he said due to the weekend. Hopefully they will fix this case soon! Otherwise no body will trust in their care.com anymore !?? It's a scam 😞!!

Shady subscription practices
This is a recurring theme from other reviews.
They try to lock you into a subscription and do not inform you that it is going to recur. The service works to connect with potential care but we didn't find anyone that worked for us and then got a surprise recurring charge that they refused to refund. Good businesses have happy repeat customers and don't burn bridges by charging for unused services. I thought I had canceled already and have not used their service. They don't offer a prorated refund and tell me I'm free to continue using their service that I do not want. I run a business and would never try to take money for unused and unwanted service.

Stay away
Stay away! If you forget to cancel your membership, you get no reminder that your membership will renew and you will get hit with a big charge months after you have quit using it. Customer care is unresponsive to kind requests about making an honest mistake even the same day the charge has hit. They purposely charge you quarterly or annually so you will forget and then they can charge you several hundred dollars for another year and it is completely non-refundable.

I have been using care.com for over 6…
I have been using care.com for over 6 years. I have a caregiver account and a family account. I recently learned that there was a lawsuit against them for many deceptive practices. I realized that I was experiencing these deceptive practices as well. My applications are not being received by families and messages are being blocked on both ends. I have a 5 star rating and have applied to several dozen clients over the past month but have not received one response. I know they are not receiving my applications. A civil court ordered care.com to pay 8 million dollars in damages for this exact reason. I have decided to find another platform and will not be working with care.com once I do. I suggest families and caregivers do the same. Care.com is not a trustworthy platform.
UPDATE: Care.com reached out with tips and advice for me to improve my profile. They took zero accountability. My profile is not the problem. Families teach out to me on their own all the time. The problem is that care.com is blocking my applications because I am not a paid premium subscriber. I’ve cancelled my account.
