I set up a profile to be a child care provider. Care.com claimed my profile does not follow guidelines. What guidelines did I not follow? I don’t know. Why do I not know? Well care.com didn’t tell me! I stated my experience as a mom and I work with my local school district. So what part of my bio doesn’t meet their standards?

On July 12, 2025, I was charged $169.08 from Care.com for the annual fee. I reached out within two days to dispute the charge. I acknowledged that I had not cancelled the subscription but added the facts that the original charge was one year prior and it was done in a period of emotional trauma for my family as we were seeking care for an sudden decline and hospitalization of our father. We have not used Care.com for close to nine months and I completely forgot about the service. We received some incredible caregivers from the agency, that is not in question here. I am advocating that Care.com simply give clients the opportunity to review their needs in a fair way by giving them prior notice of the upcoming automatic withdrawal. The representative states that their policy is in the "best way for our customers to find and manage their care needs". Are they saying that they are holding their customers hostage in that they believe they are the only ones who can provide the services that they know their clients need? This seems monopolistic, assuming and absolutely not in the best interests for families who are already challenged with the daily lives of caregiving. Their current policy is more in line with subscription models that sneakily hope that their subscribers will not see the charge on their statements, increasing the bottom line of the organization. This is in the best interests of Care.com, NOT their clients. Transparent, honorable organizations always notify customers of upcoming transactions.

When I first went to the site, I was inundated by phone calls from people whose profiles I viewed. That was beyond annoying. I hired cleaning people twice. The first one said she lost her check and could I please leave her another on my porch table. I did and she cashed both. The second person spent the entire(literally entire) time on her cell phone. When I mentioned it, she said her son was just expelled from school and she was speaking to the principal. She asked for her pay and told me she had to leave. Both jobs done were crap. I tried to contact care.com, but since I was using my nickname, they decided to 'ban' me from contacting them. Truly bizarre. I was hoping this was a company that could help two elderly friends. I wanted to check them out myself first due to the high risk of fraud with the elderly. I have been quite vocal about my complaints about this company. Had care.com not banned my nickname, I would have been able to speak to them personally. It's been a few years since I had this experience.

First this has nothing to do with the actual care givers. My review is about getting my account cancelled or having to pay more every time I try to use my account. When I ask why I get a complete circle and no answer. If you are a care giver, please go to another site. These people do not care about you or their clients.

I deactivated account 7 months ago and they have kept taking money.

Joined care.com to find dog sitters. Got 11 responses from 11 people caregivers in two days. This was a recognized category on the care.com site. Waste of my time. Deleted my account.

They have a very dishonest and deceptive billing practice. They essentially steal money from people that have subscribed. They do this by saying they have an auto-renewal' policy. However, they do not disclose it properly when someone signs up which leaves the customer vulnerable to their dishonest, deceptive, unfair, and abusive business strategy and tactics. Care.com was in fact ordered by the Federal Trade Commission to pay out $8.1 million in damages for their deceptions on June 24, 2025. BE WARNED.

Care.com is a prime example of how not to build trust with your customers. Every meaningful action—like simply reading responses to the job you posted—is hidden behind an aggressively placed paywall that you won't even know exists until you've already committed time and energy. Sure, businesses charge for services—that’s standard. But what's not standard is cloaking pricing transparency until users have fully invested themselves in the platform. It's an underhanded strategy, and frankly, insulting. If you value honesty, efficiency, or even just basic respect for your time, steer clear and find a service that actually respects transparency and customer experience.
