Dirty cons. I paid for a “one month subscription” and found out months later that they just kept taking money from my account. I’m sure they are in the right legally speaking, but it is super misleading. Never again.

My company is a very small business
My company is a very small business. I was told that these services were here to help and increase sales but it did not work. The staff were liars! No one really helped only consulted. No leads in my area, or No leads that were inquiring in my line of business. They had people without kids on the leads. Then they wouldn't allow me to get out this 3 month contract. I have called, email, text, all the leads. Out of 26 leads all, 20 were a hours a way and 6 didn't even have kids. What a waste for time and money. I wouldn't refer anyone to this company. It was just bad business, bad marketing, bad sales representatives, and Im still waiting on a so called supervisor to give me a call now. Never again.

I signed up for Care.com knowing it was a recurring subscription. That’s not the issue. The issue is Care.com terminated my account without warning, locked me out completely, and then kept charging me.
When I tried to cancel, I got stuck in an endless loop:
“We’re not using this email anymore, use your account to cancel.”
My account is canceled, so I can’t sign in.
“Oh, use this other support email.”
“This email is no longer in use, sign in to your account.”
How does that even work? They literally blocked every way to cancel and kept charging me anyway. And when I disputed it, their “rebuttal” was just sending me a PDF showing that yes, I initially signed up—as if that excuses trapping people in billing.
This isn’t a one-off mistake either. Care.com already paid $8.5 million in an FTC lawsuit in 2024 for deceptive practices, including making cancellations harder than sign-up. Looks like they didn’t learn a thing.
Bottom line: If you value control over your own money, stay far away. Care.com is still using shady “dark pattern” tactics to trap people.
Absolutely Horrendous SCUMBAG company.
**UPDATE to their reply**
The issue was never about a one‑month refund. I understood and agreed to pay for the subscription when I signed up. The problem is you terminated my account and still kept charging me—while giving me no way to log in, cancel, or contact support effectively.
Your own reply admits accounts can be closed “immediately after” sign-up, yet you keep the billing active. That’s exactly the kind of dark pattern the FTC fined Care.com $8.5 million for in 2024. Sending me in circles with “reach out here” links doesn’t solve it—it proves the point: users are locked out, billing continues, and your “eligibility guidelines” don’t include providing an actual way to stop charges.
The problem isn’t one refund—it’s your entire cancellation process and billing system.
**UPDATE AUG 10 2025**
STILL YOU ARE CHARGING MY CARD. I DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT AND I'VE TRIED TO CANCEL OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Response from Care.comJul 31, 2025
If your account was closed, it's possible that it didn’t meet our eligibility guidelines. If you paid for a subscription and were closed immediately after, you may be eligible for a refund, however it does sometimes take up to a week to process through your bank.
If you'd like for us to confirm the refund or have further questions, please reach out

If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. The website won't allow me to contact any caregivers even after I paid for a subscription. Customer service is non existent, nothing but the run around with no fix. They opened a case number with no follow-ups at all. Care.com is a complete scam as far as I can tell, they offer no service once so ever.

Horrible customer service- Reference Number REV-025692
Follow up on Reference Number REV-025692
Beware of recurring fees ..."subscription " and poor customer service.
Paid to use service for referall in January. Wasn't clear that this referral involved a quarterly fee. In April, whe I was surprised my credit card was charged even though I had not used service since January. I contacted and cancelled my "membership "
Care.com failed to process my cancelation. In July, I was again charged, even though I hadn't used their service in 6 months and cancelled in April. I contacted customer service and they refused to refund the July charge.
So, I disputedwith CC ...but Care.com denied that I had cancelled.
Then "Mary" from Care.com sent me an email stating that they "could not issue a refund" because I had disputed charge with cc company.
So ...I was charged nearly $200 for a one-time referral for a housekeeper last January.
Horrible process
They lost a customer and future business...will use Angie's List next time I need a referral.
Their replies to review offer to discuss further, but they won't. They are crooked.
No wonder The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) recently took regulatory action against Care.com, resulting in an $8.5 million settlement to resolve allegations of deceptive practices.

Cancelled my subscription with no explanation
I signed up for three months. They canceled my account after one month without refunding my money. Gave me no explanation for canceling my account. They told me I could appeal the cancellation but how could I appeal it when I don’t know why my account was canceled to begin with? Very disappointed with this company and would not recommend to others.

Watch out for these guys
Watch out for these guys. Not great at finding anyone but they're very good and continually charging your card even though you're not using the service and you downgraded your plan. 6 months I've been charged and yes I should have noticed but I put this through a business account. Zero response from them of course. I wouldn't use them.
Response from Care.comJul 31, 2025
Thank you for your honest review, Neil. We're truly sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with our service, particularly regarding the recurring charges and your difficulty reaching us. We understand how concerning it is to be charged for a service you believed you had downgraded or were no longer using, especially when it involves a business account.
We aim for clear communication regarding our subscription model. However, it's clear we fell short in your case, and for that, we sincerely apologize.
We've reached out to you privately to investigate the charges and the lack of response you experienced. We hope to resolve this situation for you swiftly and to your satisfaction.

Fee after fee after fee
I attempted to sign up to find a sitter.
1st it was $40 to sign up.
Then they wanted you to add another $20/mo to avoid additional background fee charges. Skipped that since you *could* pay $80 for each individual one of you even do that. I thought the whole point was they already HAD background checks.
Then when I attempted to search and set the price I could pay, before I even sent messages out it wanted you to pay for the time you thought you would need your fitted ahead of time plus their own fees which was like another $10.
So before even hiring anyone you potentially had to pay $100!
When I attempted to try the other way of posting my job for sitters to contact me, it still ended up wanting to take me through the same process!
I immediately canceled but they REFUSE to give a refund for a service never even utilized.
Scam and ridiculous cost.
