I used Care.com when I was preparing for a cervical fusion surgery and needed care for my cat and disabled partner while I was in the hospital and then when I was recuperating. I was matched with 3 people, 2 of whom I contacted. I interviewed and hired one woman, Kelly, who has been my angel during this stressful time, and have one person as a back-up.

I've used Care.com to find babysitters, nannies and even an ipad tutor for my 90 year old grandmother. If you have the time and inclination to put for the effort to review, interview and run background checks on the best candidates, this is the site for you.

I have used care.com exclusively for the past 5 years to identify special needs providers for my daughter. The quality of the applicants has been superlative. The most recent schedule the site has adopted has been pretty much useless, however. The majority of job applicants do not update their availability so it is impossible to see if/when a candidate wants to work. Many on the site seem to keep their listing open while not having any time available, making the pool of available caregivers look much larger than it really is. it also requires sending out many requests to find one who might have available hours that match your needs. I wish there were a better way to do this.

So far every employee I've hired from care.com has been very good or outstanding . I am a big fan. I use college students to take care of my teen age child with special needs. I can research by experience, proximity, availability and even get to see their photo which says a lot. It makes hiring so much easier.

I have been using your site on and off since the beginning. I have an elderly mother that needs constant care and I have been able to find some great sitters on your site. The big drawback that makes me very angry is that you auto renew. I usually purchase a month when I need it. I am paying for my moms care out of my own pocket and it is very costly and I do not have extra money to throw away. I have been so busy with her getting out of the hospital I forgot to cancel this month and have been charged $40+ that I do not have. That part is extremely disappointing, and I think underhanded - I am really getting tired of this and have stopped using many companies for this very reason. I love your site and I know it is in the fine print but will think twice about it next time. Thank you

Just way too expensive but other than that ok

Watch out - membership automatically rolls over, so set a reminder on your calendar to downgrade before you get charged again. You will get responses, but not all the respondents will have seemed to have read your ad, so don't assume. Also, not everyone keeps their availability updated, as you can imagine. Love that I can search by proximity and transportation.

I was in need of a reliable, regular, part-time sitter for my 2 small children. I was okay with paying a service fee for this and in doing so was given many options to select from. It is up to the consumer to put in the effort to find the best candidate although the number of candidates was overwhelming. The most frustrating parts of this experience were navigating the website; it took me a few days to realize I needed to post my job/needs to get applicants and many of the applicants applied even though they did not meet my stated needs. These issues are not directly the fault of care.com but frustrating nonetheless.
