I’ve been a nanny using care.com for positions since 2011. I always have the most difficult time with their customer service. It is truly, incredibly awful. The live agents go around in circles and refuse any kind of refund or downgrade. Just this past week I made an accidental purchase—an upgrade for my account. My request was never actually passed on, the second agent a week later said there was nothing they could do. Which any customer knows is untrue. I keep finding that care is dishonest and unhelpful. I recommend using local groups or nanny agencies to find nanny positions and stay far away from care.

Never showed up

This was my first experience purchasing any type of service with Care.com (only paid for the one month trial and glad I did not subscribe). With only having the availability to message 5 caregivers, I found that the majority did not respond, which I found to be a waste of my limit. Even after posting a job, there was limited response and more than half of those that did express interest did not respond when I wanted to schedule an interview to discuss fit further (even when I responded promptly within 48hrs). Ultimately, I did not find anyone to assist with my childcare needs within this site. I am not sure if this is a Care.com issue more so than a "pool" issue in my area perhaps.

Thought it was a great option to use their services for transportation to a hospital. I signed up with what appeared to be a monthly subscription with the intent of canceling and one to two months. It immediately billed me for a year with no confirmation of payment or services. Within five minutes I contacted customer service and they are declining refund of the payment. I am currently speaking to my bank to see if they will stop payment. I will go to great links to make sure that nobody uses this online service.

The billing cycle dates are vague. I cancelled on the last day of my billing window only to discover I had been billed for the next month already - with the date included in BOTH billing cycles. When I reached out to customer service they did not provide any helpful information, and when advised about the issue with the dates and that I would be disputing the charge, stopped responding (and I assume closed the ticket). I will not use this service again and had a better experience with other services.

I lost $70 and care giver never contacted me to help clean my apartment.

The process was very confusing. I picked a date and clicked "Hire" or "Book" or whatever the term was. I wrote a message asking this woman to contact me. But, as near as I can tell, the website didn't indicate that this person is now going to contact me, or just show up! I have absolutely no idea what happens next! For all I know, the site makes perfect sense to a younger person. But, I got information overload, among other issues. I realize you need safety checks for child caregivers. That was not part of the confusion or info overload. When I first entered the site to respond to applicant emails, it showed me child caregivers. Maybe when I first signed up, and said that I was looking for a house cleaner, you should set the site to show me only that. It took me a while to realize what was going on and figure out how to change the setting.

I had to sign up for a premium membership in order to even message applicants directly. One of the applicants to my job posting never showed up and never responded to my calls or text messages the day we were supposed to meet. I looked further into her profile and saw some inconsistencies that led me to believe that some of these applicants are not real. I am highly suspicious of this organization's hiring practices and the legitimacy of the services they offer.I strongly discourage anyone from using the site.
