I just want to take a moment and say the idea is good. I found that the web based app, though was user friendly, was difficult going back and forth from the applicant to the website. Additionally (not a reflection of care.com) the candidates in my area, I found either as “flakes” (didn’t show up) or failed to read the area that I’m located in. I live in the west side of the “Valley” in Los Angeles and found applications from people in Orange County and greater locations and commute that seem unreasonable. Anyone driving from down south are required to drive through the 101 or the 405. The commute would suck, lol.

Desiree was a wonderful caregiver but I can only give 3 stars because of the additional charges we were asked to cover above and beyond the care.com transaction. After confirming a quick booking the night before we needed Desiree, she did inform us that her rate was not accurately reflected in the app and we would need to cover the additional cost of her actual rate in addition to her gas mileage/fees to and from the job. We agreed but wish it was more clear that the "fees" to her meant that we would also cover her portion of the care.com booking fee caregivers are charged on their end. We have hired many sitter over the years through this platform and have never been asked to cover the caregivers fee or gas mileage. We were a bit shocked to find that the additional amount we owed her after the job included this fee. What we thought would be a sitting job for around $30 a hour ended up being $39 a hour. I would advise future families to be cautioned for these extra costs.

Pros: Easy to find someone and lots of applicants. Booked/hired within 24 hiurs but haven't met her yet. Negatives: Unfortunately people keep applying even though I marked someone as hired and I can't figure out how to make it stop unless i delete the job. The constant emails are a bit annoying. Also, daycares are calling me to discuss rates even though the job I posted was for a nanny/sitter. One daycare even called offering care for my 5 year old even though I don't have her posted in my profile AND the job I posted was for my baby.

This is the second year I paid for the Full membership...di not use any of the services so far...I ma finding now that it is Not very easy to connect with your services for seniors, i.e. driving to appointments. I may bot continue with my membership.

Need to review and educate your listed caregivers on how and when to respond. Both I felt with were very very slow to respond. Then when they did were not prepared to provide the services I posted.

No luck yet…A few applicants but no matches.

I like that I found a housecleaner. That's #1. Care is popular so there are a lot of potential hires to choose from. I didn't like that my job posting was auto closed at 3 weeks without notice. I'm taking care of my 90 year old parents as well as looking for this housecleaner for them, and I had been communicating with prospects right along. Suddenly finding the job closed added additional stress that I didn't appreciate. When I reopened the job, my original applicants were gone. Fortunately I found by happenstance that the original message chains with the original applicants were still there so I could reach back out to hire one of them and thank the others for their interest.
