I posted a job for a nanny on cate.com. Next day I had two replies from someone. I was desperate to find one so I convinced myself to pay £23 for a month- they sent me a 20% discount code. Just to realise that the pretend nanny has sent me reiteration of her profile. I replied to her but only to find that her account was cancelled two days later. Very suspicious and wouldn’t be far from truth if I label them as a scam company. They prey on vulnerable parents who are desperate to find care for their kids. I messaged over 20 nannies on their website to get only 2 replies from those who are also on other website like childcare.co.uk I think most of those nannies in their webiste are fake and better stay away from them.

After 48 hours I realized it was a scam (note only positive reviews on their website). I wish I did more research! They do not have a customer service ticketing system, they only do business through email and instant messaging. They scam care givers and provide zero support, just send you to FAQ sites. You're better off hosting with other services and apps that value their independent contractors. They are a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't waste your time.

Auto renewal for a service like this is predatory.

I had been on Care.com for two years, Approx 2 weeks ago, I tried to use the service that I had paid $173 for and it wouldn’t work. I wrote to Care.com customer service because they didn’t give me notice that they had shut my account down and I said what’s going on? they said you had an account with us previously and you can’t have this account anymore & I said what are you talking about I have never had another account with your company they came back and said yes you did I said send me the proof and they didn’t. So I wrote them again, & I said maybe you’re talking about one of my cousins who have the same name as me because we are a large family. I said I have a different address different phone number it’s not me and they said yes it is you! How do you like them telling me who I am. They are pieces of crap So I said fine if you shut me down then give me back my $173 money that you took from me! They said i agreed to pay through iTunes & so you must go to iTunes for the refund so I went to iTunes and iTunes saidvthat I had to go back to Care.com to get the refund as it had been just over 3 months and when I went back to Care.com to tell them what iTunes said & to get the money back 3/4 of what was paid, they said they weren’t going to give it back to me! How do you like that! Just beware if you give them any money and they shut you down you’re not getting it back and don’t charge your account through iTunes because they rip you off & are in cahoots with Care.com. so basically they are a scam company. They sign you up, find a way to get you off, even if what they claim is false, & the steal your money they Also shut you down for unjustified reasons so they don’t have to provide you a service or refund the money. I would never use them!! I would imagine that they have an influx of new people and their server can only handle so many people and so they get rid of people they want and they steal their money in doing so. It’s basically a pyramid scheme. BEWARE !!!!

Care.com wouldn’t verify my account due to having an out of state phone number. It also kicked me out of my paid for account multiple times. I do not recommend.

I have been back and forth with customer service because I can not get my account back up due to the care check. I’ve tried to get my background check done but keeps failing because of my name change due to being married and they simply told me due to Care.com policy I can not have an account... so basically I’m getting punished because I got married last year so I can’t have an account. No solution.

If you are looking for elder care on this sight, you will be very disappointed. The quality of help here seems to be the bottom of the barrel ( I am sure there are exceptions but we never found that) I interviewed over a dozen and all have significant issues that there is no way I would trust to care for my parents. None had any real qualifications and none had any type of insurance or bonding and most did not even have transportation and all insisted on $15-$25 an hour! We were desperate and hired someone and they called out sick the very 1st week and wanted an advance for the 2nd week and this person was the best we interviewed. We had to finally let this person go because the drama just kept getting worse and went back to see if we could find someone better. Nope! Interviewed several more and it was surreal. One had medical issues and could not be asked to lift or bend, one wanted to bring her boyfriends Daughter with her when she went to work and one simply said she could let me know when she could work but could not be on a schedule and several just not even bothered to keep an interview appointment. If you want your parents cared for and you don’t want to deal with drama, go to a home health care agency and let them deal with employees. We have found out the cost is about the same and you and your loved ones are protected should something happen. Remember, most you find here are not licensed, bonded and don’t have insurance. If they injure themselves, you could be responsible and if they injure your loved one, they are not covered. Will never use care.com or any other direct hire website for care again.
