CARE.com seems to be a website where everyone can seek for a job. Sadly this isn't a fact. As a graduated high schooler with huge experience in care giving from nursing homes, I'm not able to find a job as a babysitter anywhere. I keep on getting rejections, saying that I do not have enough experience. How can I get more experience if I'll never get a job?

The software behind Care.com is not bad but the people that provide the care sure can be pretty bad. We contracted someone through Care.com but she missed the first day because of a surprise tooth ache. Then two days later the same person came to work to look after our elderly 88 year-old mother and she had to leave almost immediately because she was having a reaction to her medication. It was two days after her emergency dental appointment. I'm surprised she waited two days to start medication from an emergency visit to a dentist. The rest of the workers I contacted were very poor at responding and very limited in their responses. One man even wrote back to me, twice - even though the post we put up specifically said we needed a female worker for my 88 year-old mother to help bathe her. I responded to his first message explaining that to him, yet he sent a second one still wanting the job to which I did not reply. If my mother wanted a male to bathe her I could do so or my brother could. Seems a number of the prospective workers have very limited ability to read for comprehension on this website and they just fire off messages like firing off resumes in random fashion without really researching the company or the job. I honestly cannot recommend this site to anyone for seeking elder care. I truly wish I could, but I can't. It seems that we are still quite a ways away from having a place where those caring for their parents and elders can find a pool of reliable and serious workers to recruit from all under one website. I spent 2 months on Care.com searching daily (1 month as a paid user after researching for 1 month free but without the ability to contact prospective caregivers through the site), sometimes several hours a day, and came up with practically nothing - I lost a lot of time and worse, my mother went without help. I have been trying to find a trustworthy and reliable person to clean my house (for 3 months) for $20 to 25 an hour. I have not yet had a good experience. I hired someone and she informed me halfway through cleaning (already paid her) they she had to leave early. Another girl cleaned well, but called off 80% of the time. Someone else quit before they started. I seriously do not know why it is so difficult to find someone to help me clean ???

This is rediculous. I upgraded to see the messages for my job posting and they aren't even being shown! They're there, somewhere, but cannot be seen. How do I see the messages that I paid extra to see?! Also, I want to pay minimum wage, but it makes me select $10/hr as the lowest. I cannot afford that and it's always a disappointment to any applicant. Overpriced for what it is.

It's very difficult to find someone, maybe what I need is too specific but the most frustrating thing is that many people send an initial interest email in the position, but then never reply to follow up emails. Possible they are expressing interest in multiple positions at a time, but it's a waste of my time and money, and generally disappointing. I have had better luck asking for referrals from people I know.

The site is lovely; however, I am very disappointed that people do not respond back to your job postings. I have been trying to hire a person to clean my apartment all week and they don't even have the decency to respond back to me. I am not saying that you have to accept the job, but at the very least they can decline so people aren't in limo. I requested a phone interview, they never called even though their schedule listed them as being available. I am starting to feel like this company should be extended my membership another month for free due to lack of response. This is not at all what I paid or signed up for. I would appreciate some assistance on these matters. Clients should be held to some sort of standard if they want to be on your site.

So far I'm not impressed. I had only 5 people apply. One applicant hadn't paid enough attention to see that the job schedule didn't match her class schedule. Three of them didn't respond to my follow up emails, after 3-4 days. I scheduled two phone interviews: one of them cancelled the phone interview, and then failed to follow up afterwards, the second didn't even bother to cancel and was just a no-show. The only one applicant that followed up in a thorough and timely fashion had already taken a job.
