After my negative experience with Care.com I searched online (why didn't I do this first?) and found they have over 300 closed complaints at the Better Business Bureau in the last several years. That is people that are motivated enough to take that step, imagine how many more negative experiences there are out there. Info obtained in a review written by Millenial Money. I would never be able to recommend this company with its unclear, ongoing costs and finicky website. Also, I read in another review on this site that stated customer service hung up on them, I can second that experience. Holy cow. By the way, I found help on HouseKeeper(dot)com at no cost and the site was easy to use.

I feel that Care.com takes advantage of elderly people because they do not send monthly emails with a description and amount of any reoccurring charges. I was so upset and shocked when I found out Care.com had been charging my father $29.00 a month for YEARS, without ever sending an email of the reoccurring monthly charge. My dad is mostly independent, but approaching an in-between state where his adult children are starting to help manage his appointments, emails, and finances- so a vulnerable state. The only reason we caught onto this is because I saw one random email from Care.com (they sent one email in 16 months?) to state they had charged the cc. I asked a Care.com manager why Apple can send an automated email every month to all of their customers for a $2.99 iCloud storage fee, but Care.com apparently cannot email elderly people who are dependent on their services in the same way. It's ridiculous. Why wouldn't they want to send that email to help remind their customers? The only reason I can come up with is that they want the sneaky monthly charge to keep going through with no one being alerted to it. If someone if Care.com can tell me a different reason as to why they can't do that, I'm totally open to hearing it. But I can't imagine what the reason would be.

I would've given this company zero stars if this site would allow. They advertise available carers to lure you in and then charge you a lot of money to be able to contact them. You then find that a lot of the advertised carers either do not reply, don't work in your area or in one instance we found, don't care anymore. We tried to complain and get a full refund but we were told they needed to charge us for 3 months and only gave us a fraction of our initial costs back. This company needs to be investigated. We are seeking advice.

Joined this site a week ago replied to several posts and so far I've not had one reply.This seems very strange i have a feeling I've been scammed. They won't be getting any more money out of me I'm changing my bank details.

I really wish I had researched this website and read these reviews before I even started looking for elderly care! An initial search will give you the impression that there are many carers available to hire but once you register, you'll see those options drop dramatically, I was left with just one candidate and this lady didn't even bother to acknowledge or reply to my message! Also, to have contact with any potential carers and to be able to communicate with them and receive any replies, you are prompted to upgrade, you can't use the site unless you do to be honest and to lure you in further, it's made to sound like a pretty good deal you're getting as they are offering you 20% off subscriptions too! Unlike another similar platform Curam Care, nobody registering on this site is checked in any shape or form, goodness knows who you could be hiring, just because somebody states they're qualified in doing something, doesn't necessarily say they are. I've been inside a helicopter but it doesn't give me the ability or qualifications to fly it! Like many others have said, this is nothing more than a money making platform that just let's anybody at all register and say they can do this or that. AVOID at all costs is my best advice and go through a registered agency even if there is a bit of a waiting list.
