I have been a Care.com member on and off for several years. I have found a few Caregiving jobs that were great and more than just a few where the families were shady, crazy and less than honest. While I currently have 2 jobs, I always keep my options opened, because you never know who will flake out and/or not pay. I just noticed a message on the Care.com app that if I dont comply with a background check, that I will be locked out of the account (I am not currently paid up). My question is, why is everyone not background checked? Why only the Care Providers?? Also, for the people complaining about getting recurring charges for the membership, you have to go into the setting and check the box for Non Recurring charge. They hide it pretty well, so you really have to look. Go there and change it right after you pay!! You will never be charged again after doing this.

So far Me and my wife have had a bad experience. To me it's an inconvience when you hire someone and they agree to fill position . Then they back out by not responding to your messages or text phone calls etc. When you give them the starting schedule. School is on its way and we have someone that we hired back out on us. It's an inconvience. We could have been interviewing others if we knew this was gonna happen. Those so called sitters that have an account with sitters.com should be penalized for matters like this. It's an inconvience!

"You have a message from..." is a lie No, you don't have a message from... The care.com bot just copy-pasted the general intro text from someone and sent it to you as a message. The person probably didn't even log in to the site the last few weeks. This is a scam if you ask me. Don't spend your money. 2 stars because there was no issue with the refund. That's something, right?

Was able to find a few really good babysitters through this site and we are happy about that BUT I purchased the 3 month package thinking I’d be able to find a babysitter with in that time (which I did) and didn’t realize until my card was charged twice afterwards because apparently they have a policy in place to reoccur the charge unless you cancel your subscription which I (and I’m sure many other people) were not made aware of. When I called to get my charge refunded they said I can only get the most recent charge refunded even though I haven’t been on this site in six months because I need to call within 30 days of the most recent charge. So for that reason I am giving two stars because I feel like although the service was pretty good it felt dishonest and not good business sense charging people for nothing .

My biggest complaint with this company is its membership renewal policy. Be very careful! You may not know that you are signing up for an automatically renewed plan that goes on indefinitely! I still don't understand how I got switched from a monthly plan to an ongoing plan. Unfortunately for me, I did not catch it for 10 months. Finally looked at my credit card statement. $400 buckaroos for nada!

Last December (2017) I signed up for what I thought was only a three month membership. I actively used the membership for 2 months. In the end I did not find a CNA that I liked enough to hire (that is no reflection on Care.com). But the one thing that was NOT made clear to me was that this was a recurring membership charge, Over the last year I've been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes. It's been difficult to keep track of finances and recently I was able to look closely at a credit card statement. I discovered that there had been 4 charges for $78. At the time of signing up it was not clear to me that it was a recurring charge. I called today to cancel my membership and was refunded only the last charge. Care.com may be a legitamate business, but I find it disturbing that certain aspects are not more clearly stated.

Can't find any decent candidates for childcare. I ended up stupidly paying a whole year for membership and have not found anything in the last 6 months wrt candidates. My ad has been active for quite a while. Make sure you check and see if there are valid candidates who have recently logged in. If you don't see much, move on and save your membership money and go elsewhere

There are legit people on there, but the system allows them to set their profile to auto respond. This means you will get many responses but if you pay for access, then take the time to follow up with theses people, none of them are interested in the job they didn't know they applied for (since they auto applied)
