I’ve been using care.com for the past three years and I really enjoy my experience.

Found a great caregiver for my 85 yo Aunt. Wish caregivers would state their rate up front. Not $8-35. I needed to look at apples to apples quickly.

Care.com is a convenient way to search for household help, in this case house cleaning. It offers an overview of candidates responding to your ad and gives a little bit of information about the applicants. It provides the ability to communicate with your chosen applicant(s) both by written and video communication. I found it a good avenue to find my recently hired housekeeper.

The experience was overall good. I liked the cleaner I chose and she did a wonderful job. However, I feel the pricing is misleading. It’s listed that the price was $20 an hour and I was charged $180. I’m not necessarily complaining about the price but it should be listed up front. Outside of that, great experience.

Seems like an easy way to get help for a loved one. I like how much information is available about each candidate. I like how quickly you can contact a candidate. In my case the candidate accepted the job then declined after she looked into how far the address was from her home. The only other thing I would add is that it is unclear how they get paid.

First time I had hired a caregiver directly. I quickly heard from several qualified caregivers who lived locally and were available. Those I messaged back were all very responsive.

It’s very easy to research care givers and see which skills best match your needs. It does take quite a bit of review as a post will attract many who aren’t necessarily qualified for your job. I was very pleased with the person we hired. The recent background check was helpful. Keep in mind that you will also have a background check to protect the caregiver. There is a lot of upsell for additional services , but I wouldn’t say that they were superfluous … just not needed in my case. Remember that this is an initial broker , not a group that needs to be continuously involved moving forward.
