I have no problem paying for a background check but I want to see how many available jobs are in my area first. I can look at postings and apply, I find it suspect that their job feed is always late. Why are you sending me a list of jobs in my area AFTER the start date? This may be why those seeking caregivers find users non responsive, care is withholding applicants unless they pay. They need to adopt the uber model.
Update 11/10/23 nothing has changed. I still get emails for long past jobs, and texts demanding an immediate response only to be told the job is no longer available. I have cancelled my monthly subscription.

Misrepresent services - horrible customer service
They are not clear about their policies/procedures. I submitted a booking request and chose just one provider and it went out to multiple other providers without confirming I wanted to do so. I asked customer care about this and they say it is not documented on their site but that is their process, so I guess I'm just supposed to know that? I would not have purchased the membership if I would have known that. Of course absolutely no refunds offered and customer service is horrible. Stay away!!!

Horrible service company
Like many others, I’ve had a horrible experience with care.com. There is absolutely no reminders of your auto pay forever subscription. If I wouldn’t have checked my bank account, I wouldn’t have noticed. I contacted them for a refund but of course it was rejected. I also did not find a nanny there, so overall, a very bad service company.

Some kind of fraud
Some kind of fraud. BE CAREFUL. The worst service I have ever seen. First, there is no helpful information on the website. It seems there are lots of profiles in there and you only need to purchase a membership and you get what you need but when you purchase premium (it doesn't have a trial and you must purchase) for 1 month you will find no active profiles. Nobody answer you which means they're either a FAKE profile or an unattended one. So, NO chance to get a nanny or babysitter from this site. Also, they renewed your account without telling you (it will active auto-renewal at the first stage and you can't cancel it easily), and when you email them and say it was already deducted and you want to refund they refused.
Response from Care.comJul 27, 2023
Thank you for your feedback, Far. We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. We're sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer. We're also sorry to hear that you were not aware that our memberships auto renew until cancelled. This information is included on every upgrade page, as well as our billing confirmation and Terms of Use. Our service is by subscription so members have the convenience of using their premium benefits whenever they need them. However, they can always cancel through their account or by reaching out to our Member Care team at any time. Premium members can always live chat with us through the Contact Us button found at help.care.com as well as reach out to us via our phone number listed on their credit card statement. You can contact us through Facebook Messenger too at any time. If you'd like to discuss further or if you'd like us to take a look at your account and see if we can offer any tips to help your search, please reach out to us. Please include Reference Number REV-016048 when you message. We can assure you that the profiles on our site are real and we've had many happy members make great connections using our service. Thank you.

Mirhanda Cardenes
Unfortunately, out of desperation, I made the mistake of hiring Mirhanda for 18 an hour because of all the experience and wonderful things she promised me over the phone. For the last 5-6 weeks, she spent her time lounging around my house and SHE NEVER CREATED A RELATIONSHIP WITH MY SON. Which is part of BEING A NANNY. She never brushed Jacksons teeth OR WASHED HIS HANDS IN THE SINK WITH SOAP AND WATER. She never changed Jackson's diaper prior to leaving the house, never had his backpack ready with extra clothes, snacks and water. There was always an excuse as to "why they missed Romp n Roll'. On multiple occasions I let her take him out to run her own errands. In the 6 weeks working here she took him to the park twice and the pool once.
I eventually had to write down a "daily activities list' (for someone I am paying 18 an hour)
Activities:
1.practice ABC's 3 times a day,
2.practice ROYGBIV 3 times a day
3.Shapes 3 times a day
4.Follow along with Ms Rachel Videos (3 per day)
5.wipe down Jacksons high chair with Clorox wipes after he eats')
These tasks were all "too much” for her; and 'based on her extensive knowledge of ‘Taking Care of Kids' - the things we asked of her were apparently NOT what a 'nanny does'. She even had the audacity to mention that other nanny’s get paid 30 dollars an hour (as some type of rebuttal/excuse for her incompetence and lack of common sense).
As a Senior Director of Business Analytics of a Public Oil and Gas Company, I can affirm, she is not worth nearly 8 dollars an hour.
On multiple occasions my son was without water, a new diaper which lead to rashes and bumps, and despite the agreement of MINOR daily chores and ABC's - Mirhanda did nothing. Unfortunately, both my husband and I spend most days in our offices so we could not watch her daily behavior/activity.
It was only when I took 4 days off to plan my son's birthday (last week which she tagged along to run errands not helpful with Jackson AT ALL). This was when her complete lack of common sense CAME OUT LIKE A RAY OF SUNSHINE! She was incompetent, arrogant, entitled and only cares about FaceTiming her boyfriend while putting Boss Baby on over and over and over. Every single day she left the door unlocked when she left. Her idea of "picking up the playroom” is throwing everything into baskets, no organization skills, no childcare skills, no common sense, and absolutely NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY.
Also, Mirhanda wanted to be paid via Zelle, and then refused to provide her DL photo and SS number so that we could file our taxes accordingly at the end of the year...She had to get her daddy involved to google the truth..
I'm pretty sure that speaks for itself. I mean did you think I was paying you 18 dollars an hour because you are worth it, NO I am paying you 18 an hour so I can have a great Tax Write Off.
Point Blank: Don’t make the same mistake we did.

Worst management
This is the worst place and management to look for caregivers. I couldn’t find any caregiver in the first month, and I tried to cancel my membership and couldn’t, due to a technical issue and they charged me for the second month too. I called the customer service, not being able to help, I ask to transfer my call to a supervisor, guess what! they don’t have a system that you can talk to a supervisor. This is the worst part. They charged me around $100.00 for nothing. Care.com you guys don’t deserve this service.

If you have been scammed from Care.com…
If you have been scammed from Care.com from them charging you for membership without you being notified, they are in violation of ROSCA consumer protections, and here is what you need to say and explain to credit card merchant or Paypal to get your money back. Im baffled that the FTC has not shut this company down.
My story:
I just got thru a battle with them charging me $150 for premium membership after a year of inactivity and without giving me any notice in advance or receipt of the transaction. I only found out I was charged 6 days after the fact, when i randomly logged into my Paypal account. So I contacted Care.com and they promptly declined to give me a refund, citing refund policy etc....
Well I did some digging, and apparently they have a clear history of this unscrupulous business dealings, and even settled out of court for $1M for this very issue.
Not only that, but they are in clear violation of ROSCA. Here is an excerpt that I sent to Paypal, and they ultimately ruled in my favor after Care.com failed to respond. I hope this helps others who have found themselves trapped in this corporate scam, feel free to copy and modify or use ChatGPT to help make your own. Shame on this company for making us have to look out for others like this, when its just hard working families trying to get a babysitter.
"Violation of Consumer Protection Laws:
The actions of Care.com, as outlined above, represent clear violations of federal consumer protection laws, including the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA). The ROSCA prohibits deceptive practices in online transactions and requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material terms, such as auto-renewal clauses, to consumers. Care.com's failure to provide proper disclosure, obtain explicit consent, and provide an opportunity to decline the auto-renewal violates ROSCA. I have included ROSCA PDF below.
(You can find ROSCA by searching FTC Restore online shoppers confidence act, I would post the link but Trustpilot does not allow links)
Furthermore, it is important to note that Care.com has faced legal action in the past due to their deceptive practices. In a consumer protection lawsuit jointly brought by the San Francisco District Attorney and Marin County District Attorney in 2020, Care.com was accused of falsely representing its purchased background checks for service providers and enrolling customers in auto-renewal subscriptions without obtaining proper consent or providing required disclosures. The company settled the lawsuit by agreeing to pay $1 million in penalties and restitution to affected consumers. This history of deceptive practices highlights a pattern of non-compliance with consumer protection laws.
Refund Offer and Rescission:
In an attempt to rectify the situation, I contacted a Care.com supervisor and in an email exchange was offered several suboptimal options, including downgrading the membership to a monthly plan and canceling the membership for a partial refund of $117.40. However, two weeks later, after I opened this dispute with PayPal, Care.com rescinded their offer and claimed that I am no longer eligible for any kind of downgrade and partial refund. This arbitrary rescission of the refund offer demonstrates Care.com's inconsistent policies and their ability to offer or revoke refunds without clear terms, definitions or timelines, further indicates their disregard for transparency and fair business practices.
It is clear that Care.com's actions not only violate ROSCA but also reflect a broader pattern of deceptive practices and disregard for consumer rights.
I kindly request that PayPal initiates an investigation into this unauthorized charge and assists me in obtaining a full refund for the amount of $155.40. The deceptive practices employed by Care.com, including the lack of disclosure, failure to obtain consent, and violation of ROSCA, justify a refund in this case."

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that you were not aware that our memberships auto renew until cancelled. This information is included on every upgrade page, as well as our billing confirmation and Terms of Use. At Care.com, we know the process of finding, hiring and onboarding a caregiver can take some time, and we offer an automatically renewing subscription for the convenience of our members. This gives you the flexibility and control to complete that process on a timeline that works for you without the risk of losing access to our service in the middle of hiring. In addition, your subscription gives you the ability to manage care after you’ve hired, including scheduling and managing payments. Because our members know their own needs better than anyone else, we rely on them to determine when is the most appropriate time to cancel their subscription.
