Care.com is a horrible company. After cancelling the service, they continued to charge my credit card and would not give me credit back. Also, caregivers are not vetted properly. Very dangerous situation. Easy to avoid. DON’T USE CARE.COM!!!!!

Better to place a want ad in the local paper
In order to even make a profile I had to pay for a membership. Looking for senior caregiving positions on the site should be simple. It's been a month and my profile still has yet to be "approved". Everything else has been approved but my profile isn't viewable. So they took my money and I can't even use the system. I wrote them a email to ask what was the hold up and its been weeks and no response. I wouldn't trust this site. Not using the app but website

Horrible Interface/ UX and scammy pricing
I have used this site as both someone offering care, and hiring care. First: caregivers are required to get AND PAY FOR an expensive background check. And then if you're looking to hire someone...you also have to pay to SEE the background check! and it's not cheap! Not to mention the absolutely abysmal UX design. I don't even know where to start, they need an entirely new website to fix all the issues. Nothing is intuitive, and it will keep showing you the same results without filtering ones you've already seen/ spoken to/ or rejected. You need to constantly open new windows since there are no ways to get from certain pages back to your messages and there's not really a "home" screen. Super slow to load anything at all on the site, and it does all it can to make it hard to contact people outside of the website (which is slow and hard to use). It's a real shame that something so important was messed up so badly. I wouldn't even be so mad about the scammy double-charging for backgrounds and ridiculous cost for offering practically nothing if the site was actually functional and easy to use.

Fraudulent business
The way the website is run seems fraudulent: users are lured in with "messages" from possible matches, which turns out are automated messages send by Care.com itself.
Then users get the option to choose how long they want to pay for, but after a months this is silently extended without any warning whatsoever. These warnings are common practise and obligatory to my understanding.
Further the amount inned is higher than the amount for the first month and inned by another company, making it harder to recognise. No bill or other notification is given.

No one sees your messages or applications
As a caregiver, I paid for the background checks and premium membership. I responded several times to potential employers- employers posting brand new jobs with zero applicants- only to receive a “this person is no longer receiving applications” message. Why would they post a job and not receive applications? And to make things more frustrating, the jobs would still be posted for weeks, even though supposedly the employer wasn’t receiving applications or messages.
I then read that unless the employer pays for a premium membership, they will not see or receive messages/applications from job seekers. I was earnestly applying for jobs with sincere, thoughtful messages to my would-be employers- and it was all a waste of time. There’s no way to tell if an employer paid for a premium membership (it seems that most of them don’t) and will see your message.
It’s all a waste of time- just a way for them to rake in money and provide no service in return.

DO NOT Subscribe to Care.com
DO NOT Subscribe!!!! Even if you successfully cancel your subscription and receive confirmation. Care.com continues to charge you for months , so watch your statements very carefully. I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one for them to stop charging me.

Smells like a scam
Wow, this is the first time I got scammed. I went on care.com to see what their plans are as I am interesting in potentially using a service to find a sitter. Now, Facebook allows me to do that for free, but I thought, let's see what Care.com is all about these days (haven't used them in years). I see monthly plan for $29.xx, and then more plans going up to annual.... I see next to monthly plan that the sign reads "cancel anytime", with an asterisk that pretty much says nothing related to the cancellation policy (in a non-lawyer, yet still pretty intelligent human terms at least). I move forward. It asks for my credit card and I fill it. However, without terms and conditions or any button to say 'purchase' or 'buy' or 'hit this button and payment will be processed' I get suddenly redirected to posting a job. So I'm thinking I'm still in the phase of exploring the product... I follow the prompts, then think to myself, I'm a little uncomfortable with those payment plans they showed up front - the bogus description of the asterisk and the 'cancel anytime' almost seemed like a deception tactic, the bait and switch tactic.... I think better not engage with this company as I can't get comfortable with their plans and it all seems a little odd at this point, how it moved me so fast to posting a job when I didn't hit 'sign up' for whatever it was they were selling (also, what are they selling me?). So I close out of the window and move on with my day. A few hours later I check my inbox to a charge of not $29 something but (drumroll).... $171.86!!! What? I try to find a number to call to go what the heck is this, but turns out, they don't offer phone support. They only offer chat. An incredibly slow chat service at that as well. So I start one chat, but it's taking so long I had to put my kiddo to bed. Come back, the chat is gone. I start another chat and through a frustratingly disappointing interaction where the agent assured me I won't be charged for a service I still don't know what it does in the future (ahem... in the future? As if that was a certainty to continue annually had I not dug through their website and spent an hour of my life with their chat feature), but their service is nonrefundable. Ahem again? Where there is smoke there is fire. This smelled of a scam, which is why I ran off the website. Keep your credit cards in your pocket folks, there are plenty of ways to secure childcare for free or for much lower fees elsewhere.
