We wanted 2 senior care caregivers for my 90 year-old mom. We live with her and she requires very little care. Occasionally we wanted to get away , so we hired care.com. We were little hesitant at first but paid the fee. The first person we hired turned out great, and we hired her. The second person never even showed up for an interview and is not responding to our texts. I thought care.com would have more responsible people than this so this is a little disappointing!

We joined Care.com and posted a job for the care of my aging mother. Within a few days we had several applicants who we set up for in person interviews. We sorted the interviews and made a hire decision within 2 weeks or positing our position. All the candidates on Care.com are supposed to have been background checked by Care.com so we felt secure about our hire. Care.com was worth the membership fee for us with out a doubt!

A large pool of caregivers to choose from. I have reached out to at least 30 caregivers. Most of these caregivers don't want to pay taxes. They want to be hired illegally. Whether they are on disability, low income housing, food stamps or programs I have never heard of. They do not want a W2 or a 1099. Wish Care had a better clientele of applicants. A few I hired never showed up. We should be able to flag to alert others of the poor work ethic of some of these applicants.

It was very easy to communicate in the messages, and the quality of the video during the video interview was good. The only thing I found frustrating was that every time I wanted to review messages, there was a pop up message about downloading the app. I didn’t want to download an app that I was going to use temporarily.

I have been using care.com for a few years now to connect me with families that need help. It is a very user friendly app and I'm in have gained some great clients using this service!

The procedure for hiring an applicant was a bit confusing. I have hired someone but keep getting other applicants. Do I need to remove my ad now? And how would I do that?

Care.com is amazing! As a caregiver, I have found wonderful families through this app. However, I would feel much safer if families as well as sitters underwent a background check (since I am a teenager walking into strangers' homes). I would also appreciate a way for caregivers to review families as well so sitters can also ensure they are entering a safe environment. This two-sided trust would do wonders for not just families to ensure safety, but also sitters (which are frequently young women).

Although insanely expensive, it's the only app I can trust to find a babysitter
