Just Do Research into Careers in the Cannabis Industry
I signed up for CTU thinking that this might help me enter into the cannabis industry. While the classes are informative a lot of the course material was really nothing new. I live in Wisconsin and currently there is nothing legal in the cannabis industry. I would highly recommend to anyone who lives in a state where cannabis isn't legal to not pay and go through the hassle of CTU. It simply won't help you follow your dreams. If you look at any of the jobs in this field in any state where it is legal, the jobs simply do not pay well at all. What this means is that you don't need any of this so-called schooling to get in. In fact, to try and get a career started with a lot of it, you're going to need real education from a real accredited college in areas like horticulture or computer programming. So, in conclusion I would save your money and just realize that you're going to start at the bottom and have to work your way up. Which is fine, but the knowledge I learned through CTU was 90 percent of the stuff I already was aware of. And as stated if you live in a state where cannabis is still illegal or even just medicinal, it's just a waste of time. I'm starting to realize higher learning is a joke and money-making scam for colleges and whatever CTU is classified as. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but it's just simply the truth. And if CTU was a legit place to go they should help you find these so-called positions that would open all the doors to your dreams of working in the cannabis industry.
Response from Cannabis Training UniversityAug 8, 2024
Hi Daniel, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We'd like to offer some context for anyone reading. Since you enrolled, we've completely rebuilt our programs, with new courses, updated content, and much more advanced material for students who already have cannabis knowledge. Over the years, many of our graduates have gone on to work as budtenders, cultivators, and managers, and to launch their own cannabis businesses. CTU is IACET-accredited, and our Responsible Vendor Training is approved by state regulators in Massachusetts, Illinois, and Alaska, where dispensaries use it to meet state training requirements. You're right that location matters. In states without legal cannabis, job opportunities are limited today, and we encourage students to consider their local market before enrolling. For anyone in or moving to a legal market, recognized training helps candidates stand out, and our Cannabis Careers resources help graduates explore roles and opportunities. We appreciate your feedback. It helped shape the improvements we've made. If you'd ever like to see the updated program, reach out to [email protected] and we'll be glad to help.
