My son arrived at 07:30 with evertything apart from his driving license. My wife was initially told that as long as she brought it back by 10:00 he would be able to continue. My wife got back and was told he was unable to continue. We have now been told we have to pay to rebook. What a joke. I rang to plea with Vicky and was given some speal about how they don't make money in the CBT's. I was very polite but she wasn't interested. I was told they're not for profit. I can tell you they aren't the cheapest provider, so I'm not sure how they aren't making any money. I definitely won't be rebooking with them. The joke is they do the training on their land so they could have let him start. We even sent them a photo of his license. Good old computer says no.

Dear Mr Metcalfe, Thank you for taking the time to write. Your son was a pleasure to have with us. He was punctual and courteous, took the forgotten licence with good grace, and apologised to everyone involved. He is a credit to you. For anyone reading, it may help to explain what happened. Every rider must bring their original driving licence to a CBT, and the instructor must check it before any practical riding can begin. This is a legal requirement, not our policy, and it applies on private training ground as well as the road. We explain it when the course is booked, and again in writing and in picture form in the guide we send to every new rider. We check it is understood before confirming any booking. When your son realised he had left his licence at home, our team rang his family straight away. He completed the first element while we waited, and we held the group back for as long as was reasonable. When that finished and the licence had still not arrived, the group had to move on, and we could not lawfully take him with them. I appreciate that being asked to rebook is disappointing. His place, instructor and machine had been set aside for him that day, and those costs were incurred regardless. We run our CBTs on a not-for-profit basis to keep training affordable for new riders, and we try hard to be fair to everyone who books. Our door is very much open. We enjoyed having your son with us and would love to help him gain his CBT and go on to realise his riding goals. Please do contact us directly and we will gladly find him a date. Kind regards, Camrider Cambridge Team
