5+ business days past their own payment policy, still no PayPal payment
Sold 3 items to BuyBackWorld — shipped 6/21, arrived at their facility 6/24. I was told by email to expect payment by 6/26. All items passed inspection between 6/30 and 7/3, with payment still owed via PayPal. It's now been 7 business days since the first item passed inspection, and 4 business days since the last — well past both their stated 2-business-day policy and the payment date they promised in writing. I've emailed customer service for over two weeks with no transaction ID, no confirmation payment was sent, and no clear timeline. If you're considering selling here, be aware that "fast payment" isn't guaranteed even when they tell you a date in writing.

The receiving and inspection went…
The receiving and inspection went quickly. Got an email on Tuesday, 3/10/26 saying my item passed inspection and to expect payment in 2-3 business days to my Venmo account. It's now been 8 business days and they haven't sent the payment or responded to NUMEROUS email inquiries. Beware!

One bad experience
Of the two genuine AirPods I sent them (I bought them myself from the Apple Store), both were identified by their QC Team as "not Authentic/Are Fake". For one, the refund was revised to 0. For the other, from $14 to $5. Disappointing.
My initial reaction. "This must be a scam"...but clearly others have had smoother experiences. Will give credit to their communication with updates at every small step. Just failed at this moment of truth.

The claim that my iPod Classic is making a clicking noise
I have used BuyBackWorld for previous purchases, and must say that they have provided exceptional service; until today. Today I must report that they have let me down. I sent them a 160gb iPod Classic, and they offered me $50.00, now they have downgraded that offer to $3.00 - I accepted the offer, but I'm very disappointed with the reason for the downgraded offer. They cited two reasons for the downgraded offer.
1 - They claimed that the hard drive makes clicking noises. I have been using the iPod for many years, and it sits(sat) appx 2 feat away from my head. If it were making 'clicking sounds' (which I know is indicative of a failing hard drive) I would have heard it. I have never needed to 'reformat' the hard drive (until I went to sell it) and it never suffered any data loss or read failures during the time that I owned it (14 years). Once they got their hands on it, it is apparently making clicking noises.
2 - They claim that there is engraving on the back. That's true, but there wasn't anywhere in the request for a quote form where I could report that there was an engraving, and I didn't see anything on the offer that discussed a reduction in cost if there was an engraving. The engraving was innocuous and did not consist of PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
The reduction from a $50.00 offer to $3.00 was very disappointing, especially since they are claiming that the unit was defective (clicking hard drive), and it wasn't when I sent it to them. If the device had a clicking hard drive, I wouldn't have submitted it for sale (or I would have reported the problem with the hard drive). I guess its possible it may have been damaged in shipping, but I find that unlikely because I was very generous in packing materials.
I think they are making up the clicking hard drive issue so they can recover a larger price when they resell my iPod Classic (6th Gen). They go for a good price on resale.
I accepted their offer of $3.00, but I doubt that I will use them again. Obviously I could have rejected their offer and had them send the unit back to me, but I no longer have a need for the unit, and would only have to try and sell the item to a different 'buy back' company.
Given this experience, it is doubtful that I will use them again.

This is a scam... said would give $12 for my phone online. They took a very long time to look at my phone. Then reduced offer to 50 cents because the screen is "damaged" because it is "tinted"??? The screen is perfect. Never heard of this, just and excuse to offer me nothing.
Update: After I posted this review as a one star, BuyBackWorld apparently saw the review and decided to give me the full $12 so I am happy about that. So i raised my rating to two stars. But I did not enjoy the experience.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We apologize that you were not satisfied with our service. A supervisor reviewed the device and did conclude that the LCD screen did have a slight tint / discoloration to it, which is a common issue with older iPhones over time. However, the device was still deemed to be fully functional. The device has passed inspection and your original quoted offer of $12 was issued through PayPal. We hope that you will consider trying our service again in the future.

Change my mind please!!
First off let me say I really do hate writing this review like this but I feel I have to. I do understand that there is a pandemic going on but still I feel like there should be a little bit faster process with the services. The initial process went smooth and quickly. Mailed my item off and package was documented received promptly. I did receive an email that it has been received and it will take 10-15 days to process possibly due to the pandemic. It has now been more than 3 weeks coming up on a month that it has been taking to get the order processed. I have sent an status update email which I received an automated email stating that it will take 2 days for a reply and that has not happened either. All I’m asking for is acknowledgment and maybe a little bit more detail about how long the process may take other than what’s noted in the automated emails and the PSA on the initial sign in page. I am still looking forward to the end process but just looking for acknowledgement which I have not received any as of yet. And from the other comments it definitely seems like a great service and hoping to leave a better review once the process is completed.

You guys really dulled down the prices…
You guys really dulled down the prices on electronics. When you first started this company the prices were fair and actually worth trading something in. Now it’s just the next best thing to recycling.

BuyBackWorld is what you'd expect, shady
BuyBackWorld offered my wife over $250 for her iPhone 8 plus in excellent condition. We sent the phone in its original box and no surprise they offered much less. We were expecting a change in price, but the final offer was $85... now we didn't expect that much of a hit but no harm no foul, we asked for her phone back and to be honest they sent the phone back promptly... HOWEVER, they did not ship it back in its original box!! the original box has over a $20 value to iPhone's and they are keeping the box to add value to other people who sold their phone without one. When I tried to contact their office pertaining this issue, their phone line goes straight to a voicemail that is full and cannot accept messages. We have yet to receive any email response either. All in all, the website is what you'd expect. Hype you up with the "estimate" online, send you a low ball offer, expect you to accept to not deal with the hassle of getting your phone back... but then steal the property you don't care to fight over if you don't want to sell your property.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with us, but that is why we returned your item free of charge so you did not bear any risk during the transaction. You had described your item to be in Excellent and Unlocked condition, but we found it to be locked to AT&T and with a small crack, which is the reason your price was downgraded. After we sent you the revised offer and you rejected, we promptly shipped your item back. There is no business in the buying and shipping of old boxes, but as part of our standard receiving and inspection process, we strip items of their SIM Cards and boxes. The SIM Cards are destroyed to protect your security and the boxes are recycled to eliminate potential waste. Our emails communicate that unless your items are Brand New and SEALED, you should not include any other items with your trade-in besides your physical device because we are unable to guarantee their return during the event of a Return Circumstance.
In any event, we're glad you received your item back safely and hope you have a more pleasant selling experience in the future. Thanks again for trying our services.
