Sneaky surprise subscriptions. Scam-adjacent behavior.
Paid $1 for a test. A week later, they charged US $40 for a monthly subscription. I asked for a refund and cancellation, they cancelled it but IGNORED the refund request - despite having a "30 day moneyback guarantee". How this works: 1. They bait you with a test, but withhold the results until you give your email and then pay the $1 fee. 2. 1 week later your payment method is charged $40. The page mentions a subscription, but it is very easy to miss, this is certainly a deliberate design decision, hoping to catch people off guard. 3. You then of course try to cancel, but you may not know how to log in to your account, because as far as you are aware, you never created an account. 4. There is no cancel button on the site, you eventually figure out you have to email them to ask to cancel. 5. They will cancel your account, but will IGNORE your request for refund, despite claiming to have a 30 day money back guarantee. I hate to think how this impacts some poorer people who may not have any money in reserve, maybe that was their last $40 and was intended to buy food, now they cannot buy anything until their next pay day. This is a shameful scam-like way to make money.
