I’m honestly at a point where I may end my subscription with BOTM. The quality isn’t there anymore, the picks for the past few months haven’t been the great, and saving money is a top priority for me. I’m going to have to see what October brings before I fully decide

I used to absolutely love everything about this subscription. I’ve had it for years and have gifted it to friends/family on multiple occasions. However, more and more frequently, I find myself not interested in any of the selections or available add ons, so I skip months quite often. Now I’m starting to lose credits I’ve paid for (which honestly feels illegal—they aren’t free credits, I paid for 12/year and I don’t believe that my payment should expire) simply because the quality of the options (in my opinion) have gone down. I’ve wasted 3 credits on books I couldn’t enjoy enough to finish at this point. With the price per credit going up and paying not guaranteeing you get a book eventually, I will likely stop my subscription after I’ve used (or lost) my remaining credits.

Your boxes are terrible and don't withstand weather. They fall apart when they get wet. I am still waiting on replacement books. I may end up canceling. Too many ruined books.

I think the company has good customer service and was responsive to emails only. I received the first book at $5 for Silver Elite. The book was clean and in good condition. The shipping box was destroyed which is not good for a book company. The disappointment came in the quality of the book. The sprayed edges were lack luster and not bad but not exceptional. The hardcover book looked old school two tone and nothing special. The pages were not of high quality and the book did not lay nicely. It felt cheaply published. The quality of printing from B&N was much greater. If I could return this I would. I also do not like that I cannot cancel my membership UNTIL the date of the first shipment. I am fine needing to buy the next month at $20 as this was stated upfront. But I did not expect that I could cancel future months until this next mo shipped and before the next rollover. I am pretty disappointed in this.

Expensive. Received 2 books and am in the process of reading 1. So far the book is good but I wish there was more variety.

So far I am happy with my BOTM subscription. The only thing I am not a fan of is hardcover books. I find them harder to hold when reading and prefer only paperback books. I wish there was an option to choose paperback. I also didn’t realize the books would be special BOTM editions and they look a little cheap because of that.

As others have mentioned, I too found the $5 fee to be an enticing offer until I noticed just before going ahead with purchasing my first book that I would be charged full price the next month without option for cancellation. I know, however, that many others could easily overlook this (and have overlooked this) as the print is so small and fine. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the misleading advertisement, but I do think at the very least that people should be better warned about the absence of cancellation because it makes the company look somewhat suspicious (I’d recommend providing a popup before purchase, big bold letters at the bottom, etc).
