Reddit for boardgamers
When I first joined the BGG forums, I was expecting a pleasant experience, a place where people would objectively talk about board games, clarify rules and offer alternative game modes. Sure, all that is there. Unfortunately, for the most part, this seems to be the equivalent of a reddit thread for board games. That is, childish comments with unnecessary opinions, people simping over board game "celebrities" and your typical nonsense written by those who think they are better than anyone else. Not to mention the GeekMarket... I have probably bought at least 10 games using it. Only 1 of those experiences was close to flawless (and just because it was a pick up). For the rest, people will lie, not keep agreements, and behave like degenerates. Yeah, you can find a good deal here and there, if you are willing to take the risks, but I recommend paying more to get your games from your FLGS if possible. And the people in charge of the website... Oh, boy. Useless. They certainly like to paint themselves as "progressive" middle age individuals, offering you all those microbadges (for your money) and "alt" looks, but when it comes to real issues like scammers or a problem with a transaction, expect to be ignored (at best). Alas, I would stick to this website only to check rules and game info, and stay away from everything else. Specially if you dislike people shoving in your face how much they like certain political agendas and/or religions.
