I was not able to get my head unit map…
I was not able to get my head unit map updated. I downloaded the requested items but the map updated didn't work. The tech, Gerry, suggested my head unit need flash reset in order to update maps. He attempted to flash head unit but it failed and now my head unit is completely disable with a blue screen showing flashing progress. Gerry recommended I download another file to in to complete the flash, but I could only download about 14 GB of the 138 GB file. Download was extremely slow. Customer service from Gerry was good, but it didn't work and my head unit is currently inoperable. I'm requesting a refund of $249 for the map update and the $100 for flash attempt.

Customer's vehicle was already patched with another Vendor's patch and FSC Codes, apparently done by the previous owner, so it could not be patched, it as it was not in the required OEM state. He asked if we could flash it for him to restore OEM State, which we agreed to attempt. However, the flash failed due to the remote connection. We advised him to instead download E-Sys and PSdzData to his local machine so the flash would not be over VPN, and we would attempt again. He attempted to download the files, had download bandwidth issues, and then he decided he was just going to take the car to the dealer to have them program the car, and I presume to load North America EVO map at the same time. We advised him: ."..you don't have a lot of options in getting this fixed, as if car goes to dealer for programming, ISTA will reject it due to it being patched (by previous owner, not you) and their standard practice for a patched head unit is to replace it out of warranty. It is your best interest for us to exhaust all options until it is fixed, or I run out of ideas, rather than you giving up before we get there." He said he understood, but preferred a local fix not remote. He also lacks a 50+ Amp Continuous Charger or 2nd vehicle to Jump Start the car to during flash, which factored into his decision. In the end, the customer's vehicle had an unknown aftermarket patch that interfered with our OEM patch and he refused to allow us to exhaust all remedies.
