Beyond Meat but not Beyond liability
So up until a couple of months ago I was a fan of tve beyond meat beef burgers . However one evening after biting into one that caused severe pain and discomfort to my gums to my disgust I discovered a small piece of hard plastic inside the burger. I immediately contacted customer services and told them of my experience and they immediately apologised and were quick to offer me a £20 Amazon voucher . I refused and said I wanted the matter to be investigated as had a small child experienced this they could quite easily have choked . I returned the foreign to them and after another long delay their response was Our QA (Quality Assurance) team has concluded their investigation, and has found that the source of the object was most likely the package containing the burgers. It is possible, depending on how the package is opened, that a small piece of the plastic tray may have broken off and landed in the burger. At this time, we have not received any other complaint of this nature on this lot code, so yours seems to be an isolated issue. Our QA team will continue to monitor this topic and make any corrective actions necessary to reduce this issue in the future. I immediately responded by saying Thank you for the response but there is no way any packaging broke off . The packet was completely intact which I could have sent you had that been requested. That plastic was inside the burger and was only noticed when I felt the pain inside my mouth chewing it . If that’s your final conclusion then I will now accept your offer of the Amazon voucher for my pain , discomfort and frustration at the outcome of this investigation. Still waiting for my compensation and just to confirm that piece of plastic was DEFINITELY in the burger. We are talking about a small piece of HARD plastic the size of a 5 pence piece in the UK or 10 cents in the USA not a flimsy piece of plastic covering the packaging. I won’t be buying anything from Beyond Meat ever again and it’s quite apparent having read another similar incident from someone else back in 2021 that their customer care is rubbish and they do not take incidents like this seriously. Just like every other major company will not take responsibility for their errors
