About Best Burn Firewood

Best Burn Firewood is a kiln-dried firewood manufacturer and distributor based in New Berlin, Wisconsin, founded in August 2016 by twin brothers Tyler and Brady Mainka. We operate two industrial Kiln-Direct kilns running 24/7, processing all firewood in-house at 265°F for 24 to 32 hours to achieve moisture content below 15%. Our operation is USDA and WDATCP certified, and all firewood is sourced directly from Wisconsin DNR land clearing contractors, giving us full quality control from raw log to your door.We deliver kiln-dried hardwood firewood to residential customers across Southeastern Wisconsin and the greater Chicago area, serving Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Washington, and Walworth counties. We also supply wood-fired restaurants including Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Mr. B's Steakhouse, and Smoke Shack Milwaukee, and distribute nationally through Sam's Club and over 100 Kwik Trip locations.Available species include oak, hickory, maple, birch, cherry, ash, and black locust, all kiln-dried and ready to burn immediately with no seasoning required. Kiln-dried firewood lights faster, burns hotter, produces less smoke, and is free of bugs, mold, and excess moisture compared to air-dried or green wood.Whether you need firewood for a fireplace, wood stove, outdoor fire pit, or wood-fired restaurant, Best Burn Firewood delivers a premium product backed by real manufacturing standards, not a middleman operation. Available for delivery or pickup year-round in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Delivered on a pallet, Great idea!
Wood delivered quickly with no issues. I liked that it was delivered on a pallet rather than just being dumped on the ground. I'm an old guy so it was much easier for me to unpack and move the wood where I wanted it rather than bending over a hundred times.

Thank you John, glad you liked this delivery method that we were experimenting with!

Great Hickory wood for my smoker
I was able to choose what type of wood I wanted directly on the website. They contacted me within 20 mins of purchasing online to setup delivery date and instructions on where to drop the wood. They also contacted me the day of delivery reminding of the delivery. Everything was positive, only thing I would recommend is possibly setup a way you can get half and half of 2 types of wood. Since I use mine for my smoker that would be one way I would improve what they do.

Thanks for the suggestion Tim, next time just let us know after you place your order that you would like half and half and we will accommodate it for you! We appreciate the review

Several large pieces i cannot spit
Several large pieces i cannot spit. Whole wheelbarrow of bark and random bits. Several peices with rot or dry rot.
Response from Best Burn FirewoodApr 12, 2026
Hi Andrew, appreciate you reaching out and leaving feedback -- we take it seriously whether it's good or bad! On the piece size, that one is tough for us to address without us being told your preference up front. We process wood at a size that works across the board since every customer is different. Some want big pieces for long burns, others want smaller splits, some want a mix of both. So there's no way for us to know ahead of time. Happy to talk through it though. The bark situation with your hickory is actually a species thing, shagbark hickory is the most common in Wisconsin. After kiln drying, that bark comes loose pretty easily and there will be pieces and bits throughout. Completely normal for that species, not a sign of a bad order. The rot concern is something we'd like to see before saying much about it. Sometimes logs come in with natural discoloration from tree disease which is very common right now, doesn't affect how it burns, but we'd want to look at what you're seeing. Someone from our team will reach out tomorrow during business hours. Looking forward to sorting this out with you, thanks!

This wood is awesome. Dry and easy to light, but burns long. Delivery was quick and smooth and they even adjusted my day due to rain. I recommend to all of my friends and family.
