Sold to Fail: Salesperson Promised Everything to Take My Money for a Program Its Own Content Disqualified Me From
I barely looked at the reviews before I signed up, because 4.7 stars seemed like it couldn't go that wrong. It went that wrong. This is the worst money decision I've made, and I genuinely regret picking up that cold call from Alex, who was selling Devon's FCA Program. I want to be fair: this program may genuinely work for some people, particularly those with the resources to outsource production. They seem to have some genuine success stories, so I am not calling it a scam. However, my experience was far from positive, and I am writing this so that anyone in a situation like mine can make an informed decision. I also want to say up front, I'm not the only one this happened to. There's a 2-star review on here from someone called "Olak TheSignpost" describing similar things to what I encountered. Once I saw that, I realized this isn't a one-off mistake on their part; it's how they close people. Alex passed me to a guy named Flav, who claimed to be Devon's right-hand man, for a call on June 12th. I told them both, honestly, that I was unemployed, a recent college grad, was on my last dime, and hesitant about the program due to its cost. They didn't back off. Flav told me he'd taken Devon's course himself years ago, and it worked out great for him. The call with Flav lasted about two hours. During it, Flav promised me three things to convince me to enroll: 1) that the payment plan would be completely stopped if my channel wasn't making enough money to cover installments, 2) that Devon's team would take over my channel personally if I wasn't monetized within three months, to get me through the finish line 3) and that because I told him I couldn't afford to outsource, the program would walk me through doing the production myself (sourcing, video production, editing, etc) I asked if all of that would be included in the contract. He said yes. So I foolishly paid $1,500 toward it ($650 on a credit card, $850 through Cash App), for a $9,000 course that got "discounted" to $8,000 if I paid the $1,500 on the call. None of those promises showed up in the actual contract he sent afterward. I called Alex after I got the contract, and he didn't pick up, just texted that he was busy and to go through Flav for any questions/concerns. I emailed Flav asking him to put his verbal promises in writing since they weren't in the contract, and his reply two days later did not match what he said on the call at all I logged into their course platform on Kajabi and found this myself: in the very first video (VSL Clean), around the 17:27 mark, there's a slide that says the program is not for people who are "completely broke," and Devon explicitly says on camera, "if you are completely broke, just leave right now. I apologize, I don't mean to be rude, but you do need to hire a team, and this does require a good amount of money, so maybe you guys can come back when you save up some money or something like that." Which is exactly what I had told Alex and Flav about my situation before they took my $1,500 anyway. I briefly attended both days of their bootcamp (June 13th and 14th). It fully confirmed that the course is built around hiring freelancers to do everything for you. Week 5 is literally called Viral Outsourcing. I asked the instructor, Tony, how the program would help me do the work myself, and he told me that Day 2 would cover how to outsource everything. I emailed Devon in good faith afterward (4 days after the call with Flav), told him what Flav, his supposed right-hand, had promised didn't match the contract, offered to get on a call to clarify any questions, and asked for a refund. Never heard back from him. I had never signed the contract, and I never even did onboarding, which they'd told me would be one-on-one and turned out to just be a group call. That $1,500 was money I genuinely could not afford to lose, and I told them that before they took it. Their own course material admits it's not meant for people in my situation, and they sold it to me anyway. I signed up during a very vulnerable stretch: a recent grad, unemployed, no car, no job, desperately trying to change my trajectory. Despite them knowing of my situation, they still misrepresented their services to secure my payment and refuse to refund. If you're reading this before your own call, know that they will say whatever it takes to close the deal, regardless of whether it's true or whether the program is actually right for you. Don't let them do to you what they did to me. If you're on the fence because of the star rating, please don't let that be the deciding factor. Look past the good reviews, find the people this happened to, and think hard before you hand over a deposit on a sales call that doesn't give you real time to think it over. I wish someone had told me that before I paid.
