It has been very useful to speak with a teacher and go through vocabulary. I would just like a little more structure around what I should be doing between lessons with the teacher.

They convince of being able to choose different teachers and work them into your own schedule is a unique and very helpful idea. Also, the ability to select teachers from different counties allows the student to become accustomed to different accents.

The teacher quality and the customer service has been remarkable, and over the past two years, the platform has continued to improve (in fits and starts). If you are willing to put in the hours, there is no better, more affordable Spanish language education service on the market. Highly recommend.

I heard about BaseLang through a friend who has been using it for a few months now, and I'm so happy he convinced me to try! I've been on BaseLang a couple weeks now and I feel like it's exactly what I've been looking for to get my Spanish to the next level. Talking with native speakers is so challenging but so good, and I'm amazed at how they placed me in the perfect level. The homework is exactly what I've been wanting to learn in Spanish! The website is so easy to use, making it so easy to schedule, cancel, and keep track of my classes. I would highly recommend!!!

Great way to improve your Spanish. I've seen so much progress since I joined several months ago. I love that I can take classes on my crazy schedule and that they're unlimited!

I have been on this platform for a number of years. My opinion of the service is mixed. I have tried to be fair as well with the points to improve on being things that I have already emailed Baselang support about. Things I like: The platform is flexible, with students able to reserve and cancel a class with little notice. If you are a beginner, there are levels to go through with structure. If you are an intermediate or advanced student, you can do a welcome class with a test. You can choose the teacher based on gender and country, and if you have a particular accent that you like, etc. There are some countries there more than others. Things I've found difficult: I have had teachers personally attack me for my level of Spanish, particularly my pronunciation. This goes against my general experience and feedback in speaking Spanish with natives in general, and was rather demoralising on a personal level in desiring to learn the language. Support really didn't do anything about this other than to apologise. I find the levels incredibly frustrating. According to Baselang, I am at the same level as when I started in 2019. I can't progress through a level unless I complete meaningless and simple electives, so I haven't done this. Baselang has also communicated conflicting information regarding this. Being tested at C1 level, my Baselang level doesn't correspond to my actual Spanish level. I am really forced to use the platform for conversation practice and not much else due to this. Teachers still speak English to me, despite many attempts on my end to not have this occur. I have sent many emails to Baselang support about this. Even the support emails are responded to in English when writing in Spanish, which probably explains why teachers feel that they can practice their English in a Spanish class. My view is also that the quality of the teachers was much better in the early years, and it actually seemed that there was a greater care for their students in the earlier years as well. They seemed to have a genuine interest in the progress of their students. The model of Baselang is also student driven, in the context of what learning takes place. This for someone like me is difficult, because I need to direct them, when I actually need some direction with things to improve on. My Spanish is good, not perfect. In all, support is quick to respond, but doesn't actually solve the issues for the students. They say things like, we'll talk to the relevant team about this, and then I never hear anything again. We give feedback for teachers, but we never know where it goes or how it is used (I have asked about this). I haven't given feedback for a while due to a lack of clarity around this. I rarely get any feedback on my Spanish in the class. I also can't see what teachers have written about me, even though I am told that they have done this as part of Baselang's processes. On other platforms, there is more clarity around reviews of students and teachers. In all, if these issues aren't a problem, then the flexibility and structure of the platform may be of a benefit to you.

Offering a way to learn a new language in my own time, in the privacy of my home, with just me and the instructor is perfect for me. In a classroom setting, in person, or via Zoom, I am always too nervous to ask questions or even participate. This program is what I think introverts like myself need!!
