The codes DO NOT WORK on Amazon
Marco G.
I purchased barcodes from this service only to find out they are completely useless on Amazon. As soon as I tried to list my products, I received the infamous error 8572 – which means you're using EAN/UPC/JAN/ISBN or ASIN codes that do not match the product you’re trying to list. I attempted to contact their customer support, but got no response at all. Not surprising, perhaps, given what’s stated in their Terms and Conditions: they explicitly mention that no refunds are given if Amazon rejects the codes. That clause alone should raise a red flag — clearly this happens often enough that they felt the need to legally protect themselves against it. In my opinion, if your business is solely selling barcodes, then you should ensure they actually work on major platforms like Amazon. Otherwise, customers are just paying for something that gets thrown in the trash the moment it’s used. At the very least, they should refund rejected codes. Extremely disappointing experience. I do not recommend this service.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, but we have been unable to locate an order matching the information provided with this review. We also found no record of any contact attempts from you, so our support team has not had an opportunity to investigate the issue. Error 8572 does not necessarily mean a barcode is invalid. It indicates that Amazon cannot match the barcode with the product or listing information submitted, and these cases can often be resolved by reviewing the listing details and Amazon’s exact error message. Our barcode numbers are covered by our Works for Amazon Guarantee. If we cannot help a customer successfully use their numbers on Amazon, they may qualify for a refund under that guarantee. Therefore, the claim that we refuse refunds whenever Amazon rejects a barcode is inaccurate. Please contact us with your order number and the email address used for the purchase. We will gladly verify the order, review the error, and work with you toward a resolution.

The codes are, effectively, useless on Amazon. Although BarCodesTalk.com will kindly try to work with you via email through a seemingly endless series of emails, questions, and screenshots, the end result is essentially the same: (1) Amazon won't allow it, (2) Amazon allows it but requires you to use whatever random brand name was originally associated with the bar code, or (3) the process goes into circles until someone involved cries mercy and gives up first. Whether this is primarily a problem of Amazon or BarCodesTalk is unclear, but either way it's no where clear on the BardCodesTalk website that using their UPC codes on Amazon is a hellish time-sucking experience. Even were I to eventually be successful selling my single product on Amazon using one of these UPC codes, the whole process takes so long for one single product I still could not recommend it as an effective use of precious time. UPDATE: Over a year after my review, BarCodesTalk has decided to reply with false information. I reviewed my email correspondence from the time and can confirm that I did not submit the codes through Amazon Brand Registry. Moreover, even were I to have been doing that this could have been pointed out as unfixable by the customer service representative I was communicating endlessly with at any point in time, and yet never was. Because of this I have changed my experience from 2 stars to 1.

We’re sorry the process was frustrating. However, the issue in this case was that the barcodes were being submitted through Amazon Brand Registry. Amazon requires barcodes obtained directly from GS1 for Brand Registry because of the agreement sellers accept when enrolling in that program. This is not a limitation of the barcode itself. We clearly disclose this restriction in our Terms and Conditions, FAQs, and Works for Amazon Guarantee. Our barcodes work for standard Amazon listings but are not intended for Amazon Brand Registry. Our team responded to every email, provided the requested documentation, and assisted throughout the process. We remain available to help clarify the available listing options, but we cannot override Amazon’s Brand Registry requirements.

We’re sorry to see this review. Every barcode number we sell is unique, assigned only once, and cannot be registered to another customer through our system. Each purchase also includes a GTIN Certificate of Assignment, which serves as legal documentation of the customer’s right to use the numbers. We have not received any communication from you regarding this issue, so we have not yet had an opportunity to investigate or assist. Please contact our team with your order information. We will gladly review the numbers, explain any database results you are seeing, and help resolve the issue.

I do not recommend. The codes did not work and caused major problems for my account as they were linked to illicit products.

I don't recommend this company. The UPC code does not work on Amazon. They issued the UPC code and transferred it to us. This should have been mentioned before purchasing
