I received some old numbers from a few years ago. When I purchased 25 numbers on a trial basis three months ago, I received the latest numbers starting with '7'; however, when I bought 1,000 numbers this time, I received numbers starting with '692'—numbers from five or six years ago.

Thank you for your review. We'd like to clarify that all barcode numbers we sell originate from GS1 company prefixes that were issued before 2002. This is true regardless of whether a barcode begins with "7", "692", or any other prefix. The perception that some barcode numbers are "newer" or "older" is understandable, but in practice it does not affect functionality. Barcode prefixes simply reflect when a GS1 company prefix was originally allocated, not the quality, validity, or performance of the barcode itself. A barcode beginning with "692" will scan and function exactly the same as a barcode beginning with "7". Retailers, online marketplaces, inventory systems, and point-of-sale systems do not distinguish between "new" and "old" barcode numbers—they only recognize whether the barcode is properly formatted and unique. In short, the prefix does not impact usability. All of the barcode numbers we provide are legitimate, unique, and fully capable of being used for product identification and scanning purposes. We appreciate your feedback and are happy to answer any questions about barcode numbering or GS1 prefixes.
