I have been waiting for my guarantee deposit for more than a month now. Firstly I moved into a house in West Footscray of Melbourne and took my agreement for about 6 months and wanted to change my room in the same property but the team was so unprofessional they couldn’t process that. Later on I got to know that the house I was staying was auctioned and sold by the landlord and me and my housemates weren’t even noticed. We suddenly got a message saying we have to evacuate which is crazy because I didn’t have anywhere else booked beforehand. Later I moved into another property of Aurent and I had to constantly text/email them about my License Termination and they processed that after 2 weeks. Now I have been still waiting for my previous guarantee deposit to be refunded and they keep saying that it has been refunded and will show in my account. I don’t know which sort of refund process they are following but it’s taking ages for them to refund such a small amount. It’s really unprofessional and the customer service isn’t that prompt.

I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before booking with Aurent! The room and the apartment I was given were completely unacceptable. They were extremely dirty, there were hairs in the bed, the walls were stained, and there was extensive mould in both the bedroom and the bathroom. In my experience, the accommodation also looked nothing like it was advertised online. Because of the condition of the room, I had to move out immediately and find alternative accommodation at my own expense. What has disappointed me even more is the way my complaint has been handled. Despite providing evidence and explaining the situation in detail, Aurent has still not refunded AUD 2,230.20, including my first two weeks' rent and my security deposit.

My bond has not yet been refunded to me nor have they sent me the bond termination letter. The organisation to me now seems completely a scam. I have conversed with the renters who rented the apartment prior to me and even they said that their bonds were never refunded and in some cases delayed until authorities were alerted. The location of property was Sebastopol street, enmore I have now lodged a complaint with the fair trade practice. And will be pursuing other legal measures as well till this organisation gets completely banned from operating in Australia.

⭐ Very disappointing experience I had a very poor experience with this accommodation. When I moved in, I found multiple issues, including a broken TV screen, an unclean room, and cockroaches throughout the room. The oven also had a serious electrical issue with short-circuiting and was replaced only after I reported it due to safety concerns. After raising all these issues, only one problem was addressed. The remaining issues were left unresolved, yet management responded that there were no issues left from their side. I paid for a safe and clean place to stay, but the condition of the room and the lack of proper follow-up were extremely disappointing. I hope management improves their maintenance and customer service for future residents.

I moved out on the 28th June and am yet to receive my license termination agreement as 15th July which is beyond the 15 days expected in this company's policy. Your bond is not protected by the RTBA. The company is based in Miami, not Australia as the name suggestions. The property was sublet to myself illegally by Aurent and their host Bullion Trading. Vina has been the only person who has responded to my messages but as of yet, no progress has been made. Aurent state in their policy that they themselves do not hold the deposit however if after 15 days the host has not returned the deposit then they have a Guarantee Deposit Protection policy. However, they have not activated this. I have taken legal advice regarding Aurent and would suggest any traveller and backpacker to avoid. UPDATE: Received my license termination agreement 26 days after moving out. This now apparently triggers another 15 day wait for money to be received. Please do not trust this company,

BIG SCAMMERS - we found out that they’ve been illegally subletting someone’s flat to us. They never protected our bond and therefore we have no idea where our bond is. They have breached both their Residential Rental Agreement and the requirements of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) regarding subletting without the rental provider's consent. We’re now filing a claim against them. Give us our money back!! Big scammers.

When I moved out of an Aurent property on May 6th the customer service at Aurent told me they were returning my guarantee deposit (Over $1000) within a week or two. those 2 weeks went by and I received nothing. They signed a document agreeing that it would be returned within 15 days but that also passed and I still didn't receive anything. I was communicating constantly with customer services and the administration team for weeks to no avail. I eventually received the money from them on July 17th, over 2 months after moving out. This came shortly after leaving a review on Trust Pilot about the situation. Since then they have been emailing me, trying to get me to change or remove my review, they even reached out to a former roommate and got her to ask me on their behalf! So here is my review. If you have recently moved out and they are illegally withholding your deposit, I encourage you to leave a review here detailing your experience. They seem to care about their image more than their customers. If Aurent is reading this, please stop contacting me.

I moved out in jan 2026 and have been waiting over five months for my Guarantee Deposit refund. On 11 April, Aurent confirmed the refund with a 3-business-day processing time. It never arrived. When I followed up till late May, I was told the transfer had been "cancelled during processing" — with no proactive communication from their side. I resubmitted my bank details the same day. As of now, the funds are still not in my account despite multiple follow-ups. Beyond the deposit, I experienced repeated unannounced property inspections with no prior notice given. On multiple occasions, staff entered my private room in my absence without my knowledge or consent, a serious breach of privacy and basic tenancy rights. Penalties were also applied without any prior warning or written explanation. Aurent's website states, "We've got your back if your host doesn't return your deposit — we will." In practice, this has not been my experience. I have now escalated to Consumer Affairs Victoria. I would caution international students, especially, as deposit delays and lack of communication appear to be a recurring pattern based on other reviews here.
