Probably the best free server hosts. The only other server hosts that even come close are skynode and minehut, and both of them offer too little RAM and customizability to be compared to this service.

Despite its popularity, Aternos.org leaves much to be desired as a Minecraft server. The most glaring issue is the slow loading of chunks, a problem that persists even with ample RAM. This results in a laggy gaming experience that detracts from the enjoyment of Minecraft. While it's true that Aternos is a free service, its performance issues make it a less than ideal choice. There are other free Minecraft services that offer a smoother, more enjoyable gaming experience. The saying "you get what you pay for" rings true in this case. If you're serious about your Minecraft server, investing in a paid server, even a cheap one, is a far better option. Aternos may be free, but its performance issues mean it doesn't live up to the promise of a good gaming experience.

Aternos provides a free service. And beggars can't be choosers. Aternos has continued to be the most reliable and easiest free hosting service for a long time. It's honestly incredible how they can afford to offer free hosting without even a paid tier. I have developed maps, messed around with friends and more on the free service that Aternos has provided, and provided that Aternos doesn't shut down, I will keep using it.

Mmm... where to start... While Aternos does provide okay hosting for Minecraft servers, the cons outweigh the pros. The server is constantly lagging with very few players - I'm talking an average TPS of 10. There are huge lag spikes with random drops in TPS, leading to a laggy, rubber-bandy experience Starting up your server is a long and painful process. On my Lenovo Thinkpad, I can spin up a heavily modded server in under two minutes... But somehow Aternos makes Vanilla servers take over 5 minutes to boot, even for small worlds. The process of saving is even more painful! It takes *forever* to shut down. Occasionally, even with players online, the server will shut itself down for apparently no reason, with no warning. This would be *fine* if starting the server back up was fast, but it can take over 10 minutes to get your server back online after it shuts down On a server with 3 players, we were seeing ~8 TPS, 85% RAM usage, and horrible ping. As more players join, I expect performance to get worse, yes... but Aternos takes it to a whole new level. Huge lag spikes when a player joins, massive drops in performance with even *one* extra player... Players were seeing random disconnects, with a whole slew of java exceptions being cited as the reason. I've never seen this on any other server, even self-hosted on poor-quality hardware. This would seem to point to poor network architecture on Aternos' end. Now, I did say there were some pros. There are! It's easy to set up, update, and install plugins. It's quick and free, you don't need to do any kind of network setup... For someone with no experience, Aternos might be a good way to get up and running. But, seriously, I recommend against it. There are plenty of tutorials on how to run your own Minecraft server... Hell, even if you have a Chromebook you can run your own server perfectly fine. Even if you can't set up port forwarding, you can look into "NGROK", which is also free and super simple to set up!

This is THE BEST and FREE server hosting that you will find. It's easy to use and fits my needs perfectly. Would definitely recommend to at least give it a try, it's free so what do you have to lose? :D
