ASAP Trips "agent" tried to scam me
The morning of May 4th I needed to call United Airlines to confirm my flight time. When I googled United Airlines, I didn't notice that the number was actually to ASAPtrips (I dialed 1-888-485-0220). I got an "agent" on the line and explained I needed to confirm my flight details. Their "agent" asked me for confirmation number, etc. He then told me that my original flight had been cancelled due to all the recent issues with airlines. He insisted that I had to re-book and the only available flight was for 6:15am of the same morning and it would cost $700. I said I didn't care to re-book at that cost, and he said he could provide a discount to $599. I finally did agree to the amount and gave him all of my credit card information, plus all of the flight information. The "agent" asked me to hold while he worked to change the booking. During the time I was on hold I looked at my booking on the United Airlines app and saw that the flight time will still showing the same. So, I then looked at my google history and realized I wasn't talking with United Airlines, I was talking with their "agent." I immediately went online to my bank account and canceled the card so their agent couldn't take the money. When the "agent" came back online I told him what I had discovered and to NOT make ANY changes to my booking. He stated that it was still the same and he didn't make the changes and he then hung up. Of course, I didn't trust what he said so I called back the ACTUAL United Airlines and they said the booking WAS changed to the earlier time. They said they had received a call from a woman who was crying and distressed and claimed to need the booking changed due to "my sister having died." YES THERI "AGENT" LIED AND TOLD UNITED AIRLINES THAT MY SISTER DIED!!! NOTE: my sister DID NOT DIE. So, United Airlines made the change without charging them. So apparently your "agents" were going to pocket at least $599 from me (if not more, who knows?). I had to cancel that debit card and go through all of my established auto payments for that card and set them up with a new debit card.
