Amedysis was supposed to provide skilled nursing care to me. Unfortunately when I had an urgent medical need and reached out for help they never even bothered to get back to me. Then the second time I had an urgent medical need in the form of a stat blood draw order to see why I kept falling down and if my autoimmune was acting up Stephanie told both myself and my doctor who called her that she would not honor the order. She waited 5 days to draw it and I became so bad I had to be hospitalized for iv steroids when if she had done it when asked I could have had oral steroids at home. Jenna became involved because I made a complaint and was unhappy and they threatened to discharge me care saying I didn’t qualify for skilled nursing, I did infact qualify for skilled nursing and when I got a VP involved she stopped that train of through and then changed to they couldn’t provide skilled nursing because Medicare was being billed by another company for that service. She was so lazy and unprofessional she never even verified that because NO ONE was billing Medicare for skilled nursing except Amedysis. Thanks to them refusing to reinstate care after my hospitalization because of their inability to do their job and honor a doctors stat order I have been without needed care for weeks. It takes weeks to get started with another company and I was left without any way to get my medical needs met. Jenna and Stephanie were not only unprofessional but their actions caused harm and Amedysis did nothing about it. No one has reached out despite me making them aware of this and all of this is completely unacceptable!

My father has depended on Amedisys home health for over a year after several strokes. We were told his care would be discontinued because the agency "couldn't reach his doctor." When I investigated, I found the agency had been contacting the wrong provider, a nurse practitioner he saw once, even after I gave them the correct information in writing on July 28. His actual physician's office told me they had been in contact with Amedisys the entire time. The moment that came to light, the reason for discharge changed to "INR monitoring isn't a skilled nursing need," a service he had received from them for over a year. No one acknowledged the error. My father, a stroke patient who needs regular INR monitoring, was told to "figure it out on his own." When I took notes during a call with the clinical manager, I was called hostile. I was then told she had called "out of the goodness of her heart" and could have simply discharged him. When I brought this to the director, the explanation was again a coverage rule, not the communication failure that started it. The bedside nurse was professional. But if your loved one's care depends on this agency's management, know that a documentation and communication error on their side can become your problem to solve, with little notice and no accountability. Keep written records of everything. Verify who they are contacting. Have a backup plan!

I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Amedisys Home Health. From the beginning, I experienced a lack of transparency, poor communication, scheduling issues, and concerns regarding the professionalism of several employees. The physical therapist (PT) and occupational therapist (OT) would frequently call and text repeatedly when they needed to reach me. However, when I needed to contact them with questions or to obtain important information concerning my mother’s care, I often received no response. I specifically requested that staff call or text before arriving at the home because I am not retired and cannot remain at home every day waiting for someone to arrive at their convenience. Despite repeatedly making this request, some employees would simply show up without notifying me beforehand. I also had concerns about the information provided by certain employees. The PT, Craig, stated that I had scheduled a visit with him when I had not done so. Andrew gave me reassurance regarding my concerns but subsequently stopped communicating with me. On another occasion, staff came one day and then, without clearly communicating the change in advance, my mother was discharged. I had to call the agency myself to find out what had happened. I spoke with Jake several times about these concerns. I explained in detail how I felt the employees were conducting themselves and how the lack of communication was affecting my ability to coordinate my mother’s care. Although he appeared to understand my concerns, the problems continued. Nannette Brickett was also very persistent in her interactions, which became disturbing and contributed significantly to the anxiety I was already experiencing while dealing with the agency. I also had concerns regarding the LPN, Kendall. During one visit, she sat on the foot of my bed, which I considered unprofessional. I also had concerns about her knowledge and handling of certain aspects of my mother’s care, including the use of the PureWick system. During a dressing change, the gauze was handled in a manner that created a very loud noise. More importantly, a urine sample collected to test for a possible UTI was taken to the wrong laboratory, creating yet another problem that had to be addressed. Overall, it seemed to be one issue after another. The combination of poor communication, unexpected visits, scheduling difficulties, inconsistent information, and my concerns regarding certain aspects of the care became overwhelming. I work and cannot sit at home every day waiting for healthcare providers to arrive whenever it is convenient for them. I repeatedly asked for advance notice before visits so that I could make appropriate arrangements, but this request was not consistently respected. Eventually, I became so frustrated and anxious by the ongoing interactions and lack of effective communication that I requested my mother’s discharge over the phone. At that point, I simply could not continue dealing with the repeated problems associated with the agency. My mother deserved coordinated, respectful, and transparent care, and I needed an agency that would communicate with me consistently and respect my time and role in coordinating her care. Unfortunately, my experience with Amedisys did not meet those expectations.

I called to ask some questions about a job posting for a nurse. I looked at the ad for literally 1 second to answer her question and as soon as I put my phone up to my ear she had already hung up on me. I called again right away and asked my question again and Dottie hung up faster than I could say goodbye. I would not work for Berea location no matter the pay if this is the person you have answering the phones. I know good help is hard to find but AI could do a better job.

First, we did not and would not have chosen Amedysis. The provider contracted Amedysis without asking our preference for a home health agency. Our first call from Amedysis was after 5:00 one evening advising us of a planned admission visit for the following morning. 1. Upon admission, we were told therapy visits would be scheduled with approximately 24 hours' notice, and that consistent days and times could be arranged when possible. Not once during eight therapy visits did we receive the 24 hours' notice we had been promised. Instead, we received calls as late as 8:00 p.m. for visits the following morning most times, with little to no flexibility. 2. When we reminded the supervisor of the scheduling commitments made at admission, we were told that any visit we could not accommodate would be documented and reported to the physician as a missed visit. As a result, we repeatedly rearranged our work schedules and family obligations to accommodate each visit with little notice. 3. Amedysis reported a therapist's no-show as a missed visit by the patient. We waited as long as we could for a therapist who did not call until 20 minutes after the visit should have started, at which point she said she would be a full hour late. Because we had another commitment by then, we could not stay. When we complained about the no-show visit, the supervisor informed us that the visit had been documented and reported to the physician as a missed visit by the patient because the therapist should have been allowed to come, even an hour or more late, despite our having another commitment by that time. 4. When we said we should have at least been notified by text or phone that the therapist would be late, the supervisor said, "I'm sure she called you when she could," and told us in no uncertain terms that no therapist was going to stop what they were doing to call us. 5. On another occasion, a therapist spent approximately 20 minutes with the patient before leaving, despite being scheduled for a full therapy visit. A third therapist half-engaged with the patient across two sessions that amounted to nothing more than wasted time. 6. We called the 24-hour on-call nurse one evening and left a message for a callback that never came. At admission, we had been given the nurse's number and instructed to call any time assistance was needed. It was not until days later, when we asked what happened, that we were told that the on-call nurse had not returned our call because nursing had never been ordered by the provider. Had someone informed us when we called, we could have sought assistance elsewhere instead of waiting through the night for a callback that would never come. 7. When we asked to receive one therapy at a time instead of two concurrently, the supervisor told us the change required physician approval. When we contacted the physician directly, we were told it did not. 8. When we elected to discontinue the second therapy until the first was complete, Amedysis scheduled both anyway. When we reminded the supervisor of the agreed discharge, we faced relentless pressure to have a discharge visit we had already been told was not required. 9. When the remaining therapy was set to move to twice weekly, we were instead called after 8PM and told that our family member had met therapy goals and was being discharged. We asked whether therapy could continue and were told that, for insurance and auditing purposes, our family member's own progress could not justify it. Despite Amedysis stating directly that no discharge visit was required, we again faced pressure to have one. 10. After repeatedly telling us that therapy was ending because the patient’s progress had met therapy goals and continued treatment could not be justified for insurance and auditing purposes, Amedysis documented in the patient's medical record that therapy ended because the caregiver was difficult, had repeatedly canceled visits at the last minute, and is the reason therapy had to be discontinued. We are reporting this matter to the Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility Regulation Division, for investigation as that account bears no resemblance to what actually occurred, and it directly contradicts the explanation given to us. Only after services ended did the reason for discharge become an allegedly "difficult" caregiver. Our experience left us with the unmistakable impression that meaningful caregiver participation and patient advocacy were not welcome at Amedysis. We believe, however, that patients and caregivers have the right and should ask questions, seek clarification, participate in care decisions, be treated with dignity and respect and advocate for appropriate care without those actions being mischaracterized in the medical record.

My experience with Amedisys Hospice was very disappointing. We trusted this company to provide compassionate hospice and palliative care, as well as comfort for our loved one during the final stage of life, but unfortunately, our expectations were not met. In our experience, our loved one did not receive the level of care and comfort we expected, and our family did not feel supported during such a difficult time. We believe there were shortcomings in the care provided that affected both the patient's comfort and our family's peace of mind. I am sharing this review because I believe other families deserve to know about different experiences before choosing a hospice provider. I sincerely hope Amedisys Hospice improves the quality of its care and the support it provides to patients and their families, so that no one else has to go through an experience like ours during such a heartbreaking time.

Stay away from this place!!!!! Completely irresponsible patient care. I set up a home nurse to come pist a major surgery i have. I was told I would be called the day before to set the tike for arrival. I dis not hear from anyone so I reached out. They didnt have something on the referral I needed. They sent it back to their internal intake team and did absolutely nothing with it. Didnt call me or the doctor. Tgis company cannot be trusted with patient care. Now I need to figure out how to recover from major surgery without a home nurse. If there is any issues its entirely their negligence.

Specifically reviewing their location in Louisville, KY. Hired by my insurance for in-home wound care. The problem is their administrative staff, not their nurses. Hired for three visits. First visit went well. They were scheduled to come in on a Tuesday. No one showed up. At 7 PM on Tuesday, I received a call about scheduling a visit on Wednesday. This is a daily wound care issue. No reason was given why they did not show up. I had to hire a private nurse for Tuesday and have made arrangements for the rest of the week. Not dependable.
