Absolutely horrible. Every time we try to login, we have to reset our password. There are way too many security questions. Out of 15 you have to pick six. Every time you login. If you don't remember even one, you are locked out. We have been on auto pay since the beginning of our loan and all of a sudden it was off. When we did not see the payment come through I called and they said there was no auto pay scheduled. It's a good thing I called. Would not recommend to anyone.

Alliant Credit Union USED TO be a great bank. In the past few years, its customer service has gone from excellent to dismal. They have outsourced customer service to AI, and as a result, it is nearly impossible for a customer to resolve issues that come up. Even when you get a live person, they just use AI to lie to you. They have removed helpful features from online banking that allowed customers to have agency in managing their accounts. Also, the minute you open a teen checking account for a minor, they start sending them credit card promotions without the parents' consent. We chose Alliant back in the day when choosing a credit union instead of a big bank meant the customer got a fair shake. Alliant no longer values its customers. They want your money so they can invest it, but once your money is in their system, they couldn't care less about you.

Definitely has gone downhill. I joined in 2021 and had no problems until recently. Over the last year, the amount of technical difficulties they face almost daily is ridiculous. App constantly down for maintenance or it just won’t load at all outside of that. The very few times I’ve needed to contact customer support, they’ve been rude and unhelpful. They’re also one of like 5 banks in the entire country that don’t use Zelle, which proved to be a massive problem for me. I know they’re switching CEOs, which might be why customers are experiencing so many woes.. but at this point it’s just easier to take all of my money somewhere else. I’d not recommend Alliant to anyone.

Lots of incompetence. Tried to open accounts, checking and savings, in my trust and ACU is abysmal — protocol and customer service around the process. They won’t allow customers to speak directly to the people who handle trust accounts. You play ‘telephone' with the customer rep who answers the phone, KNOWS NOTHING, and emails the people who actually know something. It’s a frustrating time suck! Multiple calls to get nowhere. Nerdwallet recommends ACU, and that’s why I opened an account with them, but I’m now looking for a new credit union. Look at ACU’s Trustpilot rating — Nerdwallet must be paid for their good ACU review. Alliant Credit Union has really poor/uneven customer service! Don’t bank with ACU.

I found this CU online as one of the Top 3, but after using it for 3 years, I found there are NO REAL PEOPLE! I have tried numerous times to contact a real person but to NO Avail. Shame, great interest rates, but trying to do business is difficult with no one to talk to for guidance and counseling, it is all digital with no interpersonal discussions. Will definitely refine my dealing.

I have banked there for many years with no complaints BUT when I was applying for a loan, the site is clunky, access to the online application was awkward, I uploaded tge same documents multiple times, and the supposed loan rep just kept asking for random items after I emailed her directly. The process took one week and we almost lost the car we were buying because I had no idea that business could be done this slowly. The rates are good but the process is inconvenient and slow.

The 2.5% cashback rate is nice, and that's what brings them up to two stars -- but customer service is terrible. They believe that the right way to deal with an angry customer is to be snarky in both their email replies and on the phone. I've been dealing with them on a credit card fraud issue, and they continue to insist I reach out to a merchant with whom I've never done business. In addition, when they turned off the card, they cut off my access to see last month's charges and failed to post last month's statement online. There's a good chance that I will soon be a former customer.

I rate Alliant two star because for the second time I called and I got poor customer service. I’ve been with Wells Fargo almost 10 years and Wells Fargo has its cons but their customer service is amazing. I was never treated differently or had poor customer service. If anything happens with your money with Alliant credit union it seems as if it would be difficult to get your problem resolved.
