Update on my last review.
Our claim was rejected. Our original insurance claim was made on the evidence discovered by the builder whilst preparing the wall for re rendering. The insurance company halted all work and sent a surveyor, who determined that rain water entering the wall had caused the damage and the insurance company refused to cover the costs stating that they did not cover that sort of problem. Since our claim was refused, work has progressed and the builder has found that a bathroom pipe had broken just before the exit to the outside wall, leaking moisture into the wall cavity. This explains how the whole wooden structure failed in such a catastrophic way, and also explains why the surveyor could not actually pin point any actual failure, or bad workmanship that would cause this type of degradation. There was no evidence that the structure was leaking in one or multiple points, only evidence of complete rot of the treated timber structure, in 13 years. As the insurance company always stressed that a leaking pipe would be covered by and insurance claim, I would like to add this to the evidence of our claim. This is a broken pipe and it has been leaking water and explains the complete failure and extensive damage. I can supply endoscope video, photos and evidence from the builder. I supplied this to the insurers. The builder has pointer out that the type of deterioration in the ceiling space is the same as that found in the wall structure, and that this pipe was leaking into both. During correspondence with the insurance company and their representatives, James Pitchell, they have pointed out, several times, that they cover broken leaking pipes and water damage. There are no exemptions in your insurance document for this type of damage. I have sent all of this information to the Financial Ombudsman Ref Number XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXX and no doubt they will be in contact with you soon. If you could please pass this to the correct department to reconsider our claim, I would be very grateful. ==== This was the latest letter that was sent to the insurance company, Accelerant, The other insurance company Ventis Insurance, the Loss adjusters, McLarens, and the original insurance broker Howden Insurance. After our previous review, McLarens were very upset that someone had given Accelerant a bad review, quite threatening actually. However I have heard nothing from any of these companies. They have all repeatedly said that our building insurance covers this type of problem and is not in part of their exceptions list, as is so often the case. I think that now that they have to pay us for a problem that is covered, they intend to ignore us, as other people have said in other similar reviews. We intend to publicise this as much as possible, via reviews, TV and internet media to highlight the poor and deceitful way these companies mislead and trick their way into obtaining your insurance premium. Also, try googling the name of the only 5 star review for this company.
