"Unemployable" SAHM to Well-Paid Remote WAHM (after ONE apprenticeship!)
I found Acadium after googling what I thought was a naive, unicorn type dream: "copywriting apprenticeship" (or something close enough to it.) I'd been studying independently for a while, but felt unqualified to actually go out and apply for work without real results. I didn't want to "learn on my client's dime", and with three little ones at home, I didn't have the time to go through and learn prospecting, sales, business development, and everything else on TOP of copywriting. I wanted to practice copywriting in the real world NOW. I also didn't have the cash or credit to pay for professional mentorship. And so, I joined Acadium via the free option. After a few weeks of checking out mentorships, being invited to opportunities, and not really finding the right fit... I was invited out of the blue to the PERFECT mentorship! It had everything I was looking for. The exact style of copywriting I wanted to practice, with the same style and tone I wanted to imitate, the perfect family oriented team. I literally couldn't recreate a better offer if I tried! We interviewed each other and I accepted. The next three months were immensely challenging, rewarding, and full of growth (both in my skills and personal development.) I was offered a job early on in my apprenticeship, and accepted that job upon completion. I literally never would've had an opportunity like this without Acadium. I had direct access to a highly skilled, successful expert in my field. I was a copy cub to a mighty Copy Chief. It was the kind of opportunity that would normally cost several thousand dollars, minimum. Instead, I learned for free. Don't misunderstand me- it was hard work. I prioritized furthering my learning and education outside of my apprenticeship, reached out to ask how I could help, and made a point to offer as much value as I could (without being a pain in the tail, of course.) Thanks to this platform, I was connected with a once in a lifetime opportunity and a team that has become like family. If you're looking for practical experience in a new field, a possible connection to your next job, or if you're "unemployable" and need tangible skills and recent experience (say, a stay at home parent?)... Acadium can help you. I will say, be discerning of the opportunities. Not every mentorship is a winner. Be crystal clear with what you want out of this, and what you're willing to give in return. If you want to learn from an expert, don't apply to or accept a mentorship from someone with a low level of experience. If you want to practice your skills without much interference, look for something that specifies that rather than one that talks about rigorous scheduling and tasks. Anyway... I spread the Acadium gospel every chance I get. 10/10!
