AARP is nothing more than a money scam. They send junk mail offering all type of useless junk and I NEVER signed up to receive any correspondence. They must get a commission off the junk the send. They say it takes 12 weeks to stop sending mail. No one takes that long. In the meantime they keep clogging my mailbox with JUNK!!! Avoid AARP at all costs. I have found absolutely NO value to AARP.

Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. We booked flights through them a month ago and it has been a nightmare. We were informed from the airliner that the flight was potentially cancelled so we called them, they referred us to AARP (our booking agency) and AARP confirmed our flights were fine. Jump forward a few days to the day right before flight and we see that our flight has been removed from the itinerary and it has in fact been canceled. We started calling AARP at 7:30 AM, It is now currently 12:15 AM, yes a.m. meaning the day of our flight, after what is now about 17 hours of holding, the run around, calling more, etc. We have received absolutely no compensation, no credit, no anything. We paid extra to be able to pick our seats and cannot do that. We paid extra to cancel tickets and they won’t allow us to do that. They cancelled another flight of ours without authorization. And now 17 hours later, most of which has been on the phone with numerous employees and so called ‘supervisors’ that literally can’t help in the slightest. And they STILL CANT EVEN CONFIRM IF WE HAVE A FLIGHT tomorrow.. well actually today since it’s after midnight. They have not offered a single dollar for our time, stress, frustration or anything. They are incompetent, don’t give a s**t about their customers, and don’t deserve to be in the flight booking business at all. They can 100% confirm they have our money (over 7 grand) that paid for flights, but can’t confirm that if we travel the three hours to JFK airport that we will have a flight at all. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Update: We wake up to an email at 2:45am saying your flight is confirmed, ‘sorry for the inconvenience’. Unbelievable it took them this long to confirm we have a flight at all after paying them so much money. And we still can’t pick our seats which we paid more for, and of course they haven’t even agreed to compensate us for that. Will never be using AARP again and will be cancelling memberships immediately.

One more thing, their car insurance is not that cheap. Geico has them beat. ATT only accepts their discount on a higher plan("premium plan"), gas discounts worthleas bc the gas stations are few and none in my surroundings! AARP is worthless!!!

They do not help seniors. Look at our drug and supplemental insurance costs. The constant barrage of junk mail is unconscionable. I have asked them in writing to stop sending junk mail yet it continues. They work under the guise of being non-profit. I find that hard to believe. That claim should be investigated.

AARP offers no benefits that are valuable. They are supposed to be affiliated with partners who will offer discounts, but the only discount, even 5% I have ever found was for senior in general. I have found no value in AARP and in fact I am going to cancel my AARP United secondary plan.
