Don't use A1A movers ever Long-distance move from Laguna Niguel, CA to Tucson, AZ Worst experience ever Do not use this company. It was the worst experience ever. They made promises and all was a lie. I had my moved scheduled months for a date and at the last minute they tried to come a day later. Gave me a quote originally for $3175 and David the guy running the job came in and gave me a new quote after accessing everything for $1000 more. Now at $4000. After loading all my stuff bumped it up another $500. He argued with me the entire time with every question I asked him. At the end told me they would only accept cash. I have never had a mover only take cash. They refused a credit card or check. He used one of my 5x7 rugs to wrap glass in and ruined it. They do not care about you one bit. Do not use this company or you will be sorry. A one bedroom should not cost $4500. David not only ripped me off but told me I complained about him when I callled the company to find out why I could not use my credit card. I never complained and it turned into another arguement. He treated me with disrespect the entire day. I finally had to tell him to leave me alone and stop fighting with me. After I signed all the paperwork he walked away and tried not giving me any copies until I asked. He would not provide the address of the company and told me he didn't know it? Really? You work for them? I have never experience since bad treatment and disrespect from a company. They lie and rip you off. They don't care or replace anything that gets broken or ruined. I had an initial move estimate completed over the phone for just over 700 Cubic feet. Per their rules, I was allowed to update the the cubic feet at any time up to 72 hours prior. I did so and the new estimate was for 830 cu feet. The storage fee for both estimates remained the same at $150-$200 per month. They packed and moved my stuff into their truck. After everything was inside they told me they only had the original estimate and refused to honor my line haul discount since the cubic feet went up. What could I do at this point? Lease is up and stuff is on the truck. They claim I shouldn't have let them take the stuff if I didn't like the loss of the discount. Further they tripled the storage fee to $600 p/mo. They claim the DOT will not allow them to charge the original storage fee and they must charge me more and this conveniently occurred right after my my move which is why I was quoted a lower price by Ian O'Reilly. Are we supposed to believe the DOT is in the business of mandating what private companies charge and that A1A was charging too little? When I asked Stephanie (their CS Manager) to see the DOT rules, she said "I don't have to". Their CS agent Steve Goldberg told me "I wasn't a priority" and never returned my calls thereafter. I finally got in touch with Stephanie who told me she was a CS manager who works with Steve apparently basically said "tough luck" after saying "Adios Mio" when I tried to explain why this is unfair. Moving is always a stressful experience and I expect certain charges to be over the estimates. But this is egregious. Save yourself the hassle and learn from my experience. Choose someone other than A1A Movers for your move. You've been forewarned!

This was the worst move I have ever seen, they quoted me 1500 just to get them to show up, they then showed up 4 hours early, they quoted me around 600 to 900 cubic feet. When they picked it up they changed my contract and charged me 7200 dollars….. and then held my items for ransom. I paid my original 50% down, with the new cost they threaten me over 4 phone calls saying they will take my stuff and take me to court. We asked them to be patient with us as we did not originally budget for $7200. They charged me for storage and sent me emails saying I never paid. The staff was awful and threatening you as well as never respond to emails as well as phone calls. I was promised that the storage was climate controlled it was not. Movers showed up 5 months later and took us 40 days for some one just to pick up a phone to schedule a deliver. Furniture was complete broken upon arrival, and some items didn’t even show up. This mover stole my stuff as well as cause over 20,000 in damage to furniture damage and missing items. They will miss quote you a cheap deal and when they load your items and then charge you 5x and the amount. I filed an insurance claim but that takes about 90 days and I have no hope that they will even cover 99% of the damage or missing items. If you want to burn your money, and ruin your entire furniture, well look no further . I would avoid these movers, the sales team is awful. Now to the move, they showed up very professional immediately surveyed everything to be moved. We did sign up for white glove service which for packing they didn’t pack anything, We did make a few changes as to what we were moving but did not think it wa s that much. The quote based on the phone inventory was for 541cf. The actual movers said it was 1500 cf. as you can imagine this was a huge change in price. What do you say at the point, we already gave notice and were driving to Texas the next day, we had to move forward. They got everything with no issues We closed on our house a 4 months later. I called dispatch and asked for our stuff to get on the road. 40 days later I called to follow up and nothing had happened. Finally a week after that call our stuff was on the road. The driver showed up and was very polite full with no labor to help so I had to jump in and help with the move There is other misc damage. I emailed the company and the response was to file a claim via a this party. As items were coming in I measured them, the total cf was under 500cf. Not very happy! So, if you want to take a risk with this company, be warned.

I called Beacon Van Lines to move my household goods from one state to another. On move day, without notice a different Van Co. showed up. A1A and without saying much of anything to me they loaded the van without giving me a moving quote. After the van was ready they put some papers in my face and said to sign them. The total price wasn't quoted before loading and I said NO that's too much! Well, they insisted that I sign because they were getting ready to leave. I was forced to sign the papers in my face! To make a long story short A1A still has my household goods in storage in Linden N.J. It has been over a year now without any contact from them! I don't know if they sold my goods or held an auction! My heart is broken because they have everything that I own. I'm a 73 yr old senior citizen with a disability. I have paid them $2,500 but I'm on Social Security and I think that they took advantage of me. This situation is called BAIT and SWITCH with another mover!

Still waiting for them to get me my "missing" items. Literally the worst movers you could possibly use. Not only did they lose a box, but almost every box was damaged that came. Some of my things were broken, including my bicycle and a record player that was packed with packing peanuts. The owner, Steve Goldman, is vindictive and sexist. He tried to change the price of what we owed them, which was different than what was quoted. When we managed to talk to him, he said that he would change it back to the original price but less than 2 minutes later changed his mind and hung up on us. It is impossible to get ahold of someone and it took 2 weeks to get ahold of anyone regarding payment. Not only that, but our packages did not come on time (which is outlined in the contract). Worst customer service possible. Their salesperson I spoke to was great, but everyone else was rude. I have yet to hear back from someone regarding my broken items. DO NOT USE.

Absolutely the worst moving experience of my lifetime. Endlessly uncommunicative, my goods were in an accident after being a month late and I barely got half of what I shipped. Some meathead named Gal talked me up and said he “had it all under control”. Worst service, worst communication, threatening and demanding. Please, go anywhere else.

I got a quote from A1A . Gave all of the items that were large. Moved from a studio apartment .All of the things that I wanted moved they did not move. when they arrived at the house the price changed to over a thousand dollars more to take the things that I wanted moved . TV and boxes was all they took and cedar chest . Table arrived with the bottom portion missing . Never again will I trust them. I have warned all of my friends and co workers since I work for a airline and we move around a lot posted a note in the crew room about them as well . I was so sorry I got involved with them .

17th of November delivery This is one of the few companies that made me compelled to leave a review, unfortunately, this time is for the wrong reasons. So here it goes, PROS: Friendly staff, both sales (Elizabeth) and movers. Clear quote Budget-friendly Before I proceed to the cons I want to point out that things go wrong all the time, it is expected but how you handle things when they go wrong that what makes the difference. What did go wrong? Missing&damaged furniture and missing boxes and no one to take responsibility or even show a bit of care, except the driver who was the only person genuinely concerned and eager to help. Worth mentioning that the three missing boxes and the furniture are the most valuable items that we shipped using this company. So here we go with the CONS: Zero responsibility and follow-through, if you (dispatch manager Stephanie) tell the customer that you will follow up in two days you better do it even if you have no update. Instead, a week goes by and you don't even pick up the phone. The staff made you feel like you are asking for something extra when you call to follow up when they committed to follow up with you and failed to do so. The estimated value of $3500 in lost and/or Damaged items. Hiking/Camping gear, Dining table set (partially missing partially damaged), Box of shoes and misc sports gear. Like I said, your business values and practices show not when everything goes right but how you handle things when things go wrong. With the practices like that, no wonder they only accept cash (otherwise they would have thousands of dollars in disputed transactions). They 'deliver' and that is it, you are no longer their customer. Verdict - DO NOT recommend this business to anyone!
