Anne W.
The communication regarding the cost of applying for this program plan was never disclosed until the very end of the call when I was instructed to pay the $197 fee. Knowing this much earlier in the conversation was needed to make an informed decision about whether to move forward or find another avenue. Nearly $200 for one piece of paper with information typed out by a computer is uncalled for.
Response from 97tax.comAug 22, 2026
Thank you for the feedback, Anne. To clarify, 97tax doesn't make sales over the phone, the entire process happens online, and the fee is clearly disclosed at checkout before payment. We understand cost is an important factor and appreciate you sharing your experience. If you have any questions about your order, feel free to email [email protected].

My issue with M&T Bank has not been addressed. They continue to send mail.
Response from 97tax.comAug 12, 2026
Thank you for the feedback, Mike. We're not sure this issue is related to our service, we help with IRS payment plan applications and don't have any involvement with M&T Bank. Please email [email protected] with more details so we can look into this and make sure your concern is addressed.
Alvin
I was told to guess at the amount I owed which would be corrected after I applied. I sent the correct amount on the same day I applied. Receive my Form 9465 with the wrong amount.
Response from 97tax.comJul 14, 2026
Hi Alvin, thanks for the feedback. The application uses the estimated amount entered when you apply, and your packet was likely mailed with your original estimate before your correction reached us. Easy fix: email [email protected] with the correct amount and we'll email you an updated copy of your application right away. And good to know: the IRS reconciles your application against their own records, so an estimate being off doesn't derail your plan.
customer
It was okay but should went with a different company thought you would help lower my payment?
Response from 97tax.comJul 13, 2026
Hi Tracey, thanks for the feedback. Good news worth sharing: your plan is set at $25 per month, which is the minimum monthly payment the IRS allows on a payment plan. That means your application secured the lowest payment possible. 97tax prepares your application based on the amount that works for you, and in your case, it's already at the floor the IRS permits. If you have any questions about your plan or anything else, we're happy to help at [email protected].

97 Tax uses deceptive advertising. It is no longer charging just $97! There should be an obvious disclaimer that they are not associated with the IRS and are an independent company that offers to help you file a payment plan request form with the IRS. I thought that 97Tax was the company the IRS was now using to file their application. It is not! The IRS still offers the application for free!
