Price gouging, be aware. No estimates , no receipts.
I contacted 1st class locksmith to assist with opening a locked door at my residence. When I requested an estimate over the phone, the locksmith refused to provide one. Instead, they stated only that there would be a $100 service call fee and an additional $280 charge to open the door. Due to the urgency of the situation, I agreed. The locksmith arrived, opened the door in a matter of minutes, and charged the full amount of $380 via Zelle. However, upon reviewing standard industry rates for comparable services, it is clear that this amount is significantly above market value. The refusal to provide a proper estimate, combined with the excessive pricing, suggests that the locksmith exploited my emergency circumstances and engaged in price gouging.
