For years I have avoided going to the doctor when I was sick simply because I didn't want to wait for hours to be seen. Such was the case on Dec 23rd, a Sunday. Our local urgent care didn't open until noon. As I was sitting in the parking lot looking at the line that had already formed at 11:30 I decided to check my phone for info on other urgent cares in the area. One of the results was for MD proactive so I decided to try it. I plugged in my information and went home. The doctor called me in under 30 minutes and asked some basic questions about my symptoms, advised me of the prescription he was issuing and how to take the medication and what possible side effects to watch for. The entire call was 5-10 minutes. It sure beats a 2 1/2 to 3 hours of waiting! Now for the really good part. My wife went to her local P.C.P. for the same symptoms, sinusitis and it cost her $168 for the visit. Mine cost $59.95 (I upgraded). Even after the prescription I still was under $100. This level of affordability makes basic care accessible to people without insurance.
