WeatherTech Didn't Deliver the Custom Fit It Promised
Like many consumers, I was persuaded by WeatherTech's advertising and reputation. Based on everything I had seen and heard, I expected a premium product with a custom fit worthy of its premium price. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Recently, we purchased a 2026 GMC Terrain Denali. When the dealership offered their floor mats, I politely declined. I had seen WeatherTech's advertisements promoting a laser-measured, vehicle-specific fit, and I believed their mats would provide better protection and a better fit than the dealer's product. Although they cost more, I was excited to place my order. That excitement faded when the mats arrived. The advertisements depict products arriving neatly packaged and protected. My order arrived with all four mats packed into two boxes without any protective wrapping. As a result, the mats had become distorted and had lost much of their original shape during shipping. I contacted WeatherTech customer service and was advised to lay the mats in direct sunlight so the heat would allow them to return to their intended shape. I followed those instructions exactly. While the mats became more flexible, they still failed to fit properly. There were noticeable gaps between the mats and the floor of the vehicle. To their credit, customer service responded promptly and agreed to send a replacement set after reviewing photographs of the issue. Unfortunately, the replacement order arrived packaged in the same manner as the first shipment. Once again, the mats were packed tightly into two boxes without protection to preserve their shape. I followed the same instructions, allowing the mats to warm in the sun before installation. Once again, the result was the same. The mats failed to conform to the floor and left significant gaps throughout the vehicle. When I contacted customer service for a third time, I was disappointed by the response. Rather than addressing the ongoing fit issue, I was essentially told that the mats were performing as designed and that there was nothing further WeatherTech was willing to do. What disappointed me most was the contrast between the product presented in the advertising and the product that arrived at my door. The custom, laser-measured fit promised in the marketing simply was not reflected in my experience. In this case, I would have been better served purchasing the OEM floor mats from GMC. While others may have had a different experience, I can only speak to my own. After two shipments, multiple calls to customer service, and two unsuccessful installation attempts, I was left disappointed with both the product and the resolution. Perhaps my experience is the exception rather than the rule. However, I paid a premium price expecting a premium product and a custom fit. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
