Minus Zero Stars!
Where to begin?!? I'm on SSDI, no longer have a bank account or other Credit Cards at all, so I'm totally reliant on DE. There has been nothing BUT problems since I've had this card for the last 3-4yrs. We're led to believe that this is actually a CC but in reality, everywhere considers it a Pre-Paid Debit Card so I have A LOT of issues using this for monthly payments for Sling TV, YouTube TV, Fubo TV, etc (I haven't had cable for 10yrs). So with YouTube TV, I set up my PayPal to link with Google Pay (didn't want to but you can't use a Pre-Paid Debit Card as a payment option). All was somewhat good until yesterday when after 3 months (this would've been my 4th month), Direct Express decided to stop payment without any kind of notice so my subscription to YTT got cancelled! I called DE, actually talked to a nice CS for a change there, but she had no idea why it wouldn't go thru so I asked to speak with a Supervisor. Explained to the Supervisor my situation and she finally gave me a "kinda makes sense" explanation that DE shouldn't be used for Monthly Payments cuz it's a Debit Card not a CC and after several direct payments to a company like Sling TV or YouTube TV, etc the card "needs to reload itself". She told me I had to wait 24 hours before setting up my payment again with YTT. WTH?!?!?!?! I told her that I was "White Listed" over a year ago (up at Level 2, their 2nd floor), meaning that ANY store or online purchase is supposed to automatically thru now as several attempts of making online purchases at Etsy, Ebay, a Dutch Store in Michigan, Vudu in the past wouldn't go thru so I had to go buy a Vanilla Visa GCs to make these purchases (paying their ridiculous $5.95 fee). I depend on this card like I did when I had an actual bank account BUT DE makes it incredibly difficult 99.9% of the time. Their Customer Service, with the exception of yesterday, has ALWAYS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!! When you have to google "how to speak to a live person", there is a definite problem with this institution as well as most of their CS Reps not being trained properly so that we can give actual answers instead of "I don't know why it didn't go thru since you've go the money on your card". That type of response is totally unhelpful as well as ridiculous especially when I'm not the only one having the exact or similar problems. I've been researching on/off for another FDIC Card to have my SDDI directly deposited onto but most aren't insured or have bad reps too like the Netspend Card. Lord help me this DE card is driving me insane, literally! All I know is my search is rearing up again to get a different card as I still don't want to get a bank account again.
