UplinqReviews of uplinq.com

We were with Uplinq about two years, paying around $1,050 a month for bookkeeping plus tax filing and strategy. The first year was fine. After that it went downhill. We got passed around between different people on their team and nobody really owned the account, so every conversation started over from scratch. Here's the actual problem. We had over $330,000 of labor spend sitting in three giant buckets: Non-US Contractors, US Contractors, and Virtual Assistant Contracting. That was it. No breakdown by department, even though our salaried employees were already tracked that way. Managing partner pay was also mixed in with owner distributions, so that wasn't separated either. If you can't see labor by department, you can't see which parts of your business actually make money. We were trying to figure out where our margin was going and we couldn't do it with the books we were paying for. Nobody at Uplinq ever brought this up. Two years. We found it ourselves. When we asked them to fix it, which meant taking about 20 contractors and assigning them to departments we already use, we were told it was outside our scope and would need a new agreement. No transaction count, no price, no date. Just that it wasn't covered. That's the part I can't get past. They sell themselves as an AI accounting company. This is twenty names, a few exports from Gusto and Wise and our staffing vendors, and eight departments. Charge me for a full historical cleanup, fine. But categorizing the single biggest expense line in the business shouldn't be an upsell. Smaller thing, but it adds up: you can't widen the account name column in their reports. You have to hover over each one to read it. QuickBooks solved that a long time ago. After we put all of this in writing, they decided not to renew our contract. Great! Blessing in disguise. If your books are simple, you might be fine here. If you pay contractors through a few different systems and you need to see profitability by department, keep looking.

After over $25,000 and a year of time invested in this company, I can legitimately warn anyone against using their online bookkeeping or tax filing or tax "strategy" services. I'm sure several of the individuals that worked with me were knowledgeable and good at their roles but the company is so mismanaged, that those individuals quit working for the company during our contract. Most of my experience with Uplinq was riddled with incompetence and confusion, nothing was clear and they seemed to make a game out of sending emails that made no sense or were not pertinent to our company. After filing an extension for our personal return and asking for a list of necessary documents, they canceled the entire engagement without notice and have left us in an unfortunate situation. I would recommend no one ever use Uplinq services

Horrible service. They take forever to get anything completed and their AI doesn’t categorize most of the transactions. The accountant they have makes the client manually categorize themselves. Also we signed up for tax strategy paying $500 per month in a year contract and the never did a call for 6 months and would not let us out of contract nor give us a refund. STAY FAR AWAY FROM UPLINQ

As a fellow business owner, I wanted to share my experience with Uplinq in hopes that it helps others who are considering their bookkeeping or tax strategy services. We signed up for their bookkeeping platform along with the Tax Strategist package, which advertises proactive quarterly tax planning and strategy sessions. We also paid an additional fee for 2024 catch-up bookkeeping so our books could be brought up to date. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. The catchup bookkeeping work we specifically paid for was never meaningfully completed. Over the course of several weeks, we repeatedly followed up only to be told there were technical issues with their system. Despite our patience and numerous emails, the work simply wasn’t delivered. The tax strategy service was even more frustrating. We had an initial onboarding call with a strategist who explained that we’d be building out a customized tax strategy during future sessions. Shortly afterward, he left the company, and from that point forward everything seemed to fall apart. For months, we had no assigned strategist, no quarterly strategy meetings, and no meaningful tax planning despite continuing to pay for the service. We reached out numerous times to different members of their team requesting updates and asking how the service would be fulfilled. Most emails went unanswered for extended periods, responses were inconsistent, or we were told someone else would follow up which rarely happened. After months of trying to resolve everything professionally, we requested refunds for the services that had not been delivered. Their proposed resolution was to refund only the catch-up bookkeeping fee while keeping the payments for the Tax Strategist service, even though we received virtually none of the promised quarterly strategy work. They also wanted us to agree not to pursue any chargebacks or further claims as part of that resolution. We declined because we didn’t believe it fairly addressed what had occurred. Since then, communication has essentially stopped. Beyond the service issues, customer support was one of the biggest disappointments. It often took weeks to receive responses, getting someone on the phone was difficult, and there seemed to be a lack of ownership over customer accounts. The AI bookkeeping features also didn’t perform anywhere close to what was advertised. Transaction categorization frequently failed or required manual correction, making the automation benefits largely ineffective in our experience. Uplinq markets itself as an AI-powered bookkeeping platform backed by accounting professionals who proactively help business owners optimize taxes throughout the year. That promise was a major reason we chose them. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. We experienced missed deliverables, poor communication, long delays, and very little value for the amount we paid. Every business owner’s experience may be different, but based on ours, I cannot recommend Uplinq for bookkeeping, catch-up bookkeeping, or tax strategy services. There are many accounting firms and bookkeeping providers that provide far more responsive service and consistent follow-through. I hope this review helps other business owners make an informed decision before committing their time and money.

Hi everyone me and my business partner run a software company and wanted to share our frustrating experience with Uplinq.com in case it helps other business owners considering their bookkeeping or tax strategy services. We signed up for their platform plus the Tax Strategist package (which includes quarterly strategy sessions) and paid a separate 2024 Catch-Up fee ($580) for prior period work. What actually happened: • 2024 Catch-Up Fee: We paid specifically for them to catch up our books. Despite multiple emails, virtually no work was completed. The team spent weeks citing technical issues with their system. In the end, nothing meaningful was delivered for that fee. • Tax Strategy Services: We had one initial call with a strategist named Aman in December. He said he would schedule a follow-up to build out a plan. Shortly after, he left the company. We then went months with no assigned strategist and no strategy work performed. We sent over 10 emails to multiple team members asking for updates on the service we were paying for. Responses were either nonexistent, confused, or came very late. No quarterly strategy sessions took place and no real value or deliverables were provided. We tried to resolve this directly and requested refunds for the undelivered services. Their final “resolution” was to refund only the $580 Catch-Up fee, cancel the account going forward, keep all other payments, and require us to agree in writing not to pursue chargebacks or any further claims. We declined because it didn’t address the Tax Strategy services where we received essentially nothing. Since rejecting their offer, they have gone completely silent and provided no further resolution. On top of the delivery failures, their support is horrible, you often have to wait weeks just to speak to someone. They appear to outsource a lot of the work (including tax prep), their “AI” barely works (it’s offline or failing to categorize transactions properly ~90% of the time), and overall the service feels significantly overpriced for the headache it caused. Their marketing heavily emphasizes AI-powered automation + expert human oversight and proactive quarterly tax strategy. In our case, none of that held up. If you’re a business owner evaluating Uplinq for bookkeeping, catch-up work, or tax strategy/optimization, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. It’s simply not worth the frustration and lack of delivery.
