EDIT: It took opening a dispute with PayPal but Ashleigh was quite helpful after that and refunded me. Changed from 1 star to 3 stars. I can not justify what little I receive with how much I have paid for an annual subscription. The flavours of the snacks are boring and you don't get much in each box. I contacted customer service requesting to cancel my subscription and be refunded the remainder of my payment and had the misfortune of dealing with Ashleigh L, who has already been named by others as rude and extremely unhelpful. I can attest to this - right from the start she was rude and refused to refund me with no explanation why. I was forced to lodge a dispute with Paypal to get my money back and her response after that was extremely hostile. One of the worst customer service reps I've ever dealt with.

This gift was from my daughters and was a wonderful idea, BUT the boxes you get are in my opinion not worth the cost. Many items are duplicates, ie fried egg chips, garlic chips onion chips, and while the chocolate items are not bad most of the others are small bags of something or other. There is normally one nice sized item per box with the rest being boring. I think that upping the quality of the items and not duplicating them would make this a much nicer gift and much better tasting. I think the idea is good, the execution is lacking.

I ordered the yearly subscription with an immediate delivery of the current month box. It was sent out on time. However, the postal service misrouted it and it was delayed. Ok things like that happen. The postal service had not updated their site for nearly 3 days. I placed request to Universal yum and got a response the next day. "Great"! Fast forward to this month. The website says the boxes get shipped out on the 15th of each month and you will receive an email. As of today neither has happened. I would have given a higher rating if this company would had sent out notices that deliveries are delayed. Instead from what am reading," buyer beware". I don't want to turn so quickly on great concept, but I recommended this to a few friends that I am now making the effort to warn them. I will follow up with a review every month to share my experience either good or bad.

The boxes themselves are great! However, if you live in AUSTRALIA be aware your boxes will almost always take a month but sometimes up to 6 weeks to arrive. Although I've enjoyed the boxes and the food that is in them (plus the booklets with info) I don't think I will repurchase after our subscription is up. The wait time is just far too long. Ebay and Amazon can both send me parcels within 7 days of ordering but Yum boxes always take 30 days+ which means you can't vote (there are voting cards inside the boxes) and are constantly wondering if the boxes are lost or just taking a long time.

Since faster delivery methods aren't an option, it takes up to a month from the shipment date for it to actually arrive in Australia which isn't great. But the ridiculous delivery time and mediocre customer service are the only negatives. The actual box and contents are amazing, lots of fun and good quality. We enjoy reading the trivia/information provided about each "yum" before opening them one at a time and while the taste is a hit and miss, it's still fun and interesting trying unique snacks from around the world.
