Bad Customer Experience
I attempted to purchase a used Tonal through Commonplace. The listed price increased from $1,775 to $2,450 after their representative spoke with the seller about my inquiry. I was told the seller hadn’t understood the fees Commonplace would deduct. Later, a $650 discount automatically appeared in my cart after I entered my phone number. I also applied a publicly advertised $500 promotional code. Their checkout accepted both discounts, and I placed the order and received confirmation. Commonplace’s CRO then contacted me saying he didn’t know where the $650 discount came from and that the seller wouldn’t accept the reduced payout. Commonplace canceled my order. When I asked why promotions accepted by Commonplace’s checkout would affect the seller’s payout, I received no clear written explanation. The CRO offered to explain by phone, but there was no apology or proposed alternative. The price changes, accepted discounts, and subsequent cancellation made this a frustrating experience and left me with little confidence in their checkout or customer service.
