Tropical Birding ToursReviews of tropicalbirding.com

I booked a trip with Tropical Birding that encompassed both, a fixed date group departure as well as added days when I was travelling independently. I found Tropical Birding to be excellent to deal with: They responded very promptly to my email, gave me the benefit of their considerable expertise in wildlife travel in the area in question, made all the local bookings for me tailored to my individual requirements, and ensured that everything went through without a hitch. Their guide was excellent, and very keen to ensure that he knew what the clients wanted from the trip and did his best to ensure that this happened. He even gave me his private mobile number just in case there were any issues with the individual portion of my journey. I would happily recommend Tropical Birding to anybody looking at wildlife-related travel.

In February, 2018, we concluded a custom tour to Thailand, including an extension to the southern peninsula. We utilized two vehicles and two Tropical Birding guides, and during the peninsula extension we added a local Thai birder. The tour was well planned and executed. Both guides were excellent both in their knowledge of the country and the birds. Bird numbers were exceptional; over 500. As leaders, our concern is always our guests and for the most part, they were very happy with this tour. Our only disappointment was no trip report, which we were told we would have.

The leaders have always been straight forward about the nature of the trips, and which ones I would like based on my interests, and which ones I probably would not. I have relied on their suggestions and have not been disappointed. Going to India with them next year, and likely Mongolia.

Have taken two Tropical Birding trips (Ecuador and Costa Rica) and highly recommend them. Knowledgeable birding guide, Jose Illanes, works hard to hard to maximize good sightings. Saw lots and lots of birds, exceeding expectations. Well planned tours include multiple habitats, some off the beaten track stops with locals, comfortable accommodations. Informative and fun!

Always excellent! Great places, correct timing to see the birds, great guides who are knowledgeable about the countries, birds and other wildlife, and they are always helpful if there are problems. l always have wonderful experiences when I travel with TB and will be going again later this year.

Have taken 4 tours with Tropical Birding. Would recommend this company to any serious birders. Final trip lists were always impressive, guides were very professional and made special efforts to ensure a good trip for everyone.

Our tour guide, Sam Woods, and our local guide, Luis Paz, worked tirelessly to find and show us the birds of Panama. I cannot imagine a more enjoyable trip. I would follow Sam just about anywhere in the world!

We have toured both Madagascar and Costa Rica with Tropical Birding in recent months. Given that Madagascar is a tough place and that distances are enormous (and the roads sub-standard), the tour took us to the best remaining spots for unique wildlife in an otherwise devastated near-continent. Ken Behrens is an excellent resident (American born) guide. We recommend the standard tour plus extensions to the NW and Masoala if you are up for it! In Costa Rica, we were guided by locally-based Fito Downs and, having arranged a 24-day custom tour, were happy to share Fito and 438 species of birds with our (2) companions from Namibia. We opted for extensions both to the Panama and Nicaraguan borders which were very productive and interesting. We are very happy with the Tropical Birding approach and are looking forward to our next adventure with TB next February. Ecuador, here we come! Local guide experience generally is the icing on the cake; you will go to places and meet people and see birds you would miss with other operators. Marian adds, rightly, that office staff are excellent in the run-up to booking, the booking process and in arranging arriving early, city tours, and such-like. Nice people to deal with. Thank you to Desiree, Xavier and Paola! Love, Chris and Marian from Cumbria, England
